YES but it's a shame we don't get to see that as she just releases all this commercialised crap. When she started out she was impressive but now it all sounds just the same as everything else. It's like Beyonce, she is actually musical, plays the piano but you never see that as all she releases is all the commercialised crap. Such a shame such talent goes to waste, I know they are both capable of so much more but at the end of the day its the biz and the 'almighty dollar'. In fact i'm sure they've been pushed that way, doubt they have much say in it. The state of the music business is dire, it should be about the music but sadly it isn't, it's just a suit run business where cash is king and developing as an artist and evolving is not something that's seen as important as long as what they do over and over again brings in the short term buck.

Beyonce is musical? That is hilarious. Beyonce does not play the piano, nor can she play any instruments. Prince even said she isn't and showed her a few keys. She can't even write a full song. She relies on others and take credit for their work.

The only thing commercial on Alicia Keys last album was the single "Girl On Fire", hence one of the reasons why it wasn't a big seller. Personally, I don't care for it but commercial it was not.

"I Am" is a great pop / soul album.

Not so sure about the rest. Lately she seems to have tried to appeal to that "EDM pop" crowd that's into those "oh oh oh, eh eh eh" type of overly simplistic choruses, heavy kick drums and all that. It's not really working for her. Yeah, "No One" was simple in the same matter and a lot of people found it annoying too, but I thought that's where she still got it right. The song with Maxwell was quite alright though (it sounded more like a Maxwell track, really).

Another indicator that Prince has lost his musical judgement.
