Princes early guitar solos 1976 1979 94 East If You Feel Like Dancing Just Another Sucker My Love is Forever Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad Bambi This are few examples of Princes early soloing style. What do you think about his style of guitar playing on these songs? I think that Prince played different than the style he is famous now. His early solos were more complex, more modal and Santana is a major influance . Guitar solos in the early songs like If U fEEL lIKe Dancing have fusion ;ike quality. What guitar did he use? it sounds like Gibson and his pedal board sounds different

I was just listening to Prince again and I was thinking this too. His earlier guitar work seemed fuller in a sense, hard to explain. But more prominent. Its a shame he didnt stick with the style for long, I think Prince loses some of his guitar flare when he mixes his songs especially during the mid 80s and some of the early 90s. They could be made more prominent.
Personally I liked it and consider it some of his best.

The ones you listed plus all the songs on The Time's first album. I still don't understand why he layed down better solos on that album than on his own. Makes me question whether or not Jesse Johnson had some hand it. But that's another topic... I agree that these songs have great tone and style: My Love is Forever Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad Bambi "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"
