it's not a matter of different tastes .. it's a matter of listening to prince enough that the novelty wears off and you hear the actual music for what it is .. redundant lazy tasteless and bland .. i have full confidence that you too will shift your "taste" at some point in your listening experience .. as i once kinda liked a lot of his post wb work and was excited with each new release .. i just found over many years that much of that post wb work simply does not hold up and sounds like it was written for teenagers .. like not sophisticated teenagers .. teenagers that tell teenage level sex jokes and like bad rap like vanilla ice. it's just not quality music .. its cheap .. and it feels almost offesnive that prince would stoop so low after producing such respectable music .. opinions have nothing to do with it .. when you grow up u will find prince bragado and lyrical obsession with impressing whores with money and pretending he is spiritual to be trite and insulting to your sensibilities .. you will just find that you outgrew prince .. that he no longer inspires forward thinking but rather writes to placate only the smallest of minds .. hell even kenny g writes better jazz at this point .. even fred durst writes better rap .. what prince does it puts his ego way out in front because he has so many people that call his poop gold .. he thinks he can do anything and it will be great and that very notion is what ruined his career because he couldn't and he failed miserably .. he will be singing let's go crazy forever because he can't write a better song anymore

Ok, I'm gonna make it real simple, Prince is a musician, he makes music. If you don't like it, that is your choice, however, to label his recent work as "bad" music is just plain ignorant.

He is an unbelievably talented and well respected musician and will be whether or not you like his latest tune. End of .........

All you have is an opinion. And it is no more valid that anyone elses. Liking or disliking Prince's current ouput does not have any thing to do with being "grownup". U don't have too "mindlessly" appreciate prince. What is "mindless" is insisting that because you don't get any enjoyment out of some music means nobody else should. Trevor just bigged up "Lemon Crush" and many fans have hated on that song. So obviously its a matter of taste. In my opinion "Lemon Crush" is as souless and meaningless as "Breakfast can wait" on a comparison scale. This idea that every thing Prince did in the past is pure gold and everything after a certain point in time is horrible is really a silly notion.

Every song should not have to fulfill every desire. They can't all be songs of sheer genuis.
