Prince highly influenced by Leo Sayer? By comparing Prince's early falsetto recordings, it's easy to see him copying Leo Sayer's style to achieve some success at the pop/disco charts. During the 1970s, Leo Sayer had the disco hit "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing". Similar singing styles, compared to," I Want To Be Your Lover". Now tell me this isn't true.

Prince's falsetto was subtle, almost feminine, conveying tenderness and vulnerability. Leo Sayer was a squeaky, annoying, overbearing perm on legs that went on to behave like a child on Big Brother. It's a joke right? When's the punchline? don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

Leo Sayer also had a giant Afro and hasn't released an album for a long time. It's like it's the same guy! “Tuna, you better do something or else we gonna have to put you back in the can!”

Jerky said: Leo Sayer also had a giant Afro and hasn't released an album for a long time. It's like it's the same guy! Well in that case, Leo sang with the Wiggles and Prince sang with the Muppets... the only similarity between Leo Sayer and Prince is their height they're both very short men

I was sat next to Leo Sayer at the Hammersmith Apollo for the One Nite Alone tour. Didn't speak to him other than to gently negotiate whose seat was whose.
I wonder how many Leo Sayer concerts Prince has attended...? PIPS! Eurgh...

Do a Google image search for Leo Sayer and you'll find a lot of pictures that look like Richard Simmons.

You Make Me Feel Like Dancing (especially the "I feel like dancing (woo!) dancing (woo!) dance the night away" part) always reminds me more of Michael Jackson/The Jacksons (vocally and instrumentally) to be honest.
Blame It On The Boogie maybe...? [Edited 10/30/13 4:21am] Just somewhere in the middle,

I gotta agree with you here ...very expressive singing voice. He looked like a spastic goofball when he sang but Sayer had more than a decent voice.
