Has a decade dulled the love for Vavoom or was the love for it a big injoke that I missed? Just played tis song and when it came out I never got the hype but now it's moved into the realm of excruciating.
Did you love it then? If so, why and how do you feel about it now? If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

there was another version of this that sounded a bit fuller and deeper, i don't know how to describe it. it just sounded better and it had some minor differences to the one that ended up on the chocolate invasion. i liked that version a lot more. i still like the song but it sounds really, really flat and tinny.

Always thought it was missing something. It has potential but it never takes off.

his singing voice just really annoys me in that song for some reason - and I love his voice 99.99999999% of the time

I love Vavoom, but it depends on what you play it on. Through my huge speakers it has such a good drum and bass section, the song is great!

I liked it... especially the over aggressive handclaps up in the mix.
NOW, here's the BIG question...
Who was the Orger back then that ADORED that song? I mean, far above anyone else.
Was it Bart? I can't remember. "He's a musician's musician..."

Nice point on the guitar tone... smoldering overdrive/distortion. I also agree with what "RumAnd Raisin" posted in that it should be listened to with full range speakers. "He's a musician's musician..."

Shausler, he of the songs Just somewhere in the middle,

YES, I think it was Shausler! I just remember the posts of adoration of 'Vavoom' and how they made me smile.
"He's a musician's musician..."

It was totally Shausler. He was always Vavooming his ass off in here! He's also the one who made up poems about/for specific Orgers. "Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"

I loved it then and I still love it now. But it's got to be the ahdio version, not the stilted Chocolate Invasion version. It's a great pop-rock track and it's vexing that he's yet to dust it off for 3rdEyeGirl. "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

The original "Vavoom" was better than the version that ended up being released. T obtained a (lossless?) rip of the promo that was sent to a Minneapolis radio station, which he proved by posting a "porn version" of that rip, but other than that the only circulating version is a crummy radio rip. © Bart Van Hemelen

I've always dug it A LOT and always felt in the minority about it.

Might have to revisit the Ahdio version then. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

thanks. that must be the version i've heard, the crummy radio rip but it still sounded better than the released one

I don't mind it. Just dug up this and some other NPGMC songs I'd wrote off and have been jamming on them like never before . I HATED My Medallion back in the day, but I get it now . The last person you'd expect to make such a hot ghetto mess . Most of those songs have their own little quirky charm about them. Just a rope of silicon . I like the guitar parts and hook on Vavoom. Missed out on it initially, but had my ways and it's just peachy with me now . Nothing goes inside my woman 'cept the son . For all time I am with you, you are with me.

IIRC the officially released version had a lot of those annoying sound effects that Prince so likes to ruin his songs with. "I mention the word 'police' so that means I have to include the 'police siren' sound effect." Goddarn unimaginative literal idiot.
IIRC Housequake used to have a sticky that described the various versions of NPGMC songs, since there were even differences between released versions. © Bart Van Hemelen

Another bland pop-rock track, boring as hell! [Edited 10/26/13 5:40am]

The "porn" version was much more interesting. I remember the disappointment when I first heard the official download.
