Just played tis song and when it came out I never got the hype but now it's moved into the realm of excruciating.

Did you love it then? If so, why and how do you feel about it now?

i don't know how to describe it. it just sounded better and it had some

minor differences to the one that ended up on the chocolate invasion.

i liked that version a lot more. i still like the song but it sounds really,

really flat and tinny.

his singing voice just really annoys me in that song for some reason - and I love his voice 99.99999999% of the time

I love Vavoom, but it depends on what you play it on. Through my huge speakers it has such a good drum and bass section, the song is great!

I liked it... especially the over aggressive handclaps up in the mix.

Who was the Orger back then that ADORED that song? I mean, far above anyone else.

It could have been me. I loved that song then and I love it now.

The way it builds instrumentally through each verse is just perfect to me. I use that song as an example of how to make music.

I also think the crunchy tone of Prince's guitar on the last solo is my favorite tone he's ever produced.

Nice point on the guitar tone... smoldering overdrive/distortion. I also agree with what "RumAnd Raisin" posted in that it should be listened to with full range speakers.

The original "Vavoom" was better than the version that ended up being released. T obtained a (lossless?) rip of the promo that was sent to a Minneapolis radio station, which he proved by posting a "porn version" of that rip, but other than that the only circulating version is a crummy radio rip.

Might have to revisit the Ahdio version then.

I don't mind it. Just dug up this and some other NPGMC songs I'd wrote off and have been jamming on them like never before . I HATED My Medallion back in the day, but I get it now . The last person you'd expect to make such a hot ghetto mess . Most of those songs have their own little quirky charm about them. Just a rope of silicon . I like the guitar parts and hook on Vavoom. Missed out on it initially, but had my ways and it's just peachy with me now . Nothing goes inside my woman 'cept the son .

IIRC the officially released version had a lot of those annoying sound effects that Prince so likes to ruin his songs with. "I mention the word 'police' so that means I have to include the 'police siren' sound effect." Goddarn unimaginative literal idiot.

IIRC Housequake used to have a sticky that described the various versions of NPGMC songs, since there were even differences between released versions.

Another bland pop-rock track, boring as hell!
