Funny lil' track this. On an album with such big songs like "Get Off" "Cream", the title track, "Judhead" "Push" etc..., this track seems almost like an interlude in how it is sequenced on the album. It's quite well hidden and passes me by like a cool breeze.

It feels like a filler track really, but it needs abit of love I think. Elisa Fiorillo's vocals are well mixed in, and the sound effects give it a child like innocence thats kinda refreshing on an album thats as ostintatious as this.

It's also quite minimally produced by his standards. Not too many overdubs and what not.

Heck "Seseme street" could of covered the track LOL, and thats a compliment.

What are your thoughts on the track? I guess Elisa being on it means it was worked on the same sessions as her album maybe?

"Get Off" is a b-side on the "New Power Generation" (the song) Maxi-single,

"Get Off" is different and is NOT on the Diamonds & Pearls album.

The song on D&P is spelled "Gett Off", with two tt's.

How come you don't know about that..??

Walk Don't Walk is in my top 3 tracks from D&P. Whoever said it was filler needs to be shot.

It's a great song musically and lyrically. But I don't agree that the song is hidden in the album sequence. I still think about Diamonds And Pearls as a vinyl record, and the song was the first one of the second record (or side B of the cassette), so it wasn't hidden at all. At least in Spain, few people bought CDs back then!

Yep, it's from the "good pile" on D&P.

It's a sign of what a prolific miracle worker Prince was that he could just toss off these completely unique tracks and they would mostly be unnoticed. I think if anyone else had done songs like this or Dance On or Power Fantastic people would be marvelling at the inventiveness and creativity - the sheer cleverness of it - particularly if it was mostly the work of one solitary person. But because Prince was doing it so regularly people just pass over these tracks thoughtlessly. When you think about it, it truly is amazing what this one little man was doing. I don't think there's been a single figure in pop music that can match his individual achievement. Not a single one.

So yeah, Walk Don't Walk is great. He probably did the whole thing in one afternoon. Then bossed a band rehearsal in the evening.

Do you guys think the Sha-la-la-la-las are a conscious nod to Rebirth Of The Flesh or just musically "similar" and a coincidence?

I like this song.It's so much different than the other tracks on the album.The production is simple and uncluttered.Before this album was released,it was reported that Lisa Bonet would be directing a video for it,which makes me believe that it was being considered for a single.

I really like it. It's one of my favs from that album. There are a few tracks on there that sound pretty dated now that we're not in the early 90s anymore, but Walk, Don't Walk is great. Simple, effective, and inventive.

Love this song. A highlight from that album.

Power Fantastic is hardly an individual achievement. It's a band performance of a Lisa instrumental that Prince added lyrics to. He works better when he bounces off other people. [Edited 10/25/13 17:05pm]

If Lisa's track was instrumental then that means Prince must have written the vocal melody as well as the lyrics. Anyway, PF was just one random example. I could've chosen 4 The Tears In Your Eyes, Condition of the Heart, or numerous other weird and wonderful obscure Prince tracks.

There is something indescribably appealing about this song. It's so simple and loopy that you'd think it'd be simply filler material.

Yet it's a classic. I liked it in 1991 as much as I like it today.

I equate it with "I Wonder U". Short, simple & sweet.

F'real. If anyone could have been served well by the MTV Unplugged trend, it was Prince. As much as studios stamp princes sound, he's equally as dynamic in an unplugged setting. It would have given everyone an entirely new set of glasses to see Princes music through...much the way Of Clapton and Nirvana. He could move an audience with nothing more than one of those 5 cent candy slide whistles.

I'm very surprised there's this many people who like the song as I can't stand it. I really don't like it at all
