Just seen very pro shot video from Parade tour - was this ever slated for release?

Hi,

Just seen an amazing pro shot clip of Head from the Parade tour where Prince squeals and writhes on the stage while singing Head. It's beautifully shot and edited and still looks fresh - amazing to see his talent in dance and movement - was this ever planned for release? Anyone got any more details, I was not aware such a planned official video existed (this isn't just a standard filmed concert, there are lots of tracking shots, close ups and smooth edits/transitions).....?

More than likely it is the birthday parade which is professionally filmed. The anotherlover was used as a promotional video for the single and the rest was broadcast at the time in some countries. I think it was aired on channel 4 here in the UK

I'm surprised you have not seen this before Mr Freaker. Though it's edited to death it's a top show.

^ Me too, but it's great in a way when you discover stuff you hadn't seen...nice to remind yourself of his amazing stage presence and moves....and this when he was probably at the height of his powers!

An edited version was on TV (In Japan I think). But the show also included "soft and wet" which was not on the edited version. But yeah it is a great show.

that looks like an interesting show to see. I wish he would have released this!! Then again I wish he would release any shows!! I am tired of watching Rave and Aladdin!! I have Syracuse also but on vhs. He definately has not taken advantage of releasing live dvds. I think he is the only artist I can think of that doesn't. I guess the others must not have sold well. Thats too bad as I think people would enjoy them he released live stuff!!

Filmed on film stock, and it remains Prince's best document of a live show in my opinion. As fantastic as SoTT is, much of that was re-shot on the soundstage at Paisley, so doesn't really apply as a true document of a live show in my estimation. (Don't get me wrong though, I do love that too!)

Cheers. In the video for "A Love Bizarre" he mentions San Francisco or San Diego.

You might be thinking of the: Sheila E.: Live Romance 1600 [VHS] (1991).

Which was filmed at San Francisco. Prince shows to do the some with her.

Well hopefully he will release these one day or maybe his estate will when he is gone. Hopefully I will still be around to see it if so. He does not seem to release much stuff which is indeed frustrating. I like alot of no name artists and they have more dvd releases than Prince. Hell, I have 4 official concert dvds by Body Count and only 2 by Prince. Maybe Body Count sells more? or maybe Prince just wants too much money and cant get a deal? Either way I wish he had more for us to see. I like Rave and Alladin OK but honestly with all the hype over his live his shows from the media, I have yet to really see what they are talking about. I just thought those were OK. Granted, I know he is older now and I missed him in his hayday but I do like him. I am not trying to bash him by any means so please don't take offense.

So for the birthday show it's not a duet? Would be nice if the duet could be spliced into the birthday show.

What would be nice is both fans and fan-bootleggers to STOP tempering with original releases. I'm really pissed at that, I'm really pissed at 4DF for ruining Corporate World and The Sacrifice Of Victor (while, on the other hand, I'm at the same time deeply grateful for all the other wonderful things they're released). An artist's work is a legacy, it shouldn't be toyed with like that. What would u think if I edited down some chapters of "The Catcher in the rye" and put that version online as a ebook, to slowly replace the original, arguing that the pace of the novel is much better the way I did it? People shout at George Lucas for touching his own movies and the same people butcher Prince songs and albums, going as far as to edit Tony M out of tracks and share this on P2P's, and they think it's a brilliant idea sad

I know he talks and jokes with the crowed (Anotherloverholenyohead) He sits on the stage and says something. I think it is something like "can I be your lover? Oh come on... it will be so raw"

and he does say "Eric, shut the fuck up" during "Mutiny"
