10 Elaborately Maintained Alternate Identities Interesting list with the Purple Phantom at number five and a 2 paragraph write-up. I've been on the org for 15 or so years (this is my 2nd username) and this is my first new thread. Way to contribute, eh? Anyway, the author of the linked article mentions that there are 'probably dozens more' Prince pseudonyms that we'll never even know about. What do you guys think? Any tracks that you're just sure have that purple stank on them with no 'Prince' credit? Maybe What Have You Done For Me Lately or Oh, Sheila? http://listverse.com/2013...dentities/ Chili Sauce.

Prince has had a hand in the creation of more songs than most artists in musical history. On top of his own massive back catalog, Prince has writing credits on tens of dozens of other songs as well as a literal vault filled with music we’ll likely never get to hear. During his long career, Prince has adopted more aliases than the Wu-Tang Clan and NWA combined: Jamie Starr, Joey Coco, and Paisely Park are just a few—and there are probably dozens more we’ll never find out about.Despite this impressive list of alter egos, it’s probably Prince’s decision to adopt an unpronounceable symbol as his new identity that most people will be familiar with. According to Rolling Stone, this decision was made almost purely to annoy Warner Brothers, who wanted to be able to market him more easily, even though just writing “Prince” on an album cover should have made it easier to sell than ice in a desert. Prince stuck with this name change right up until his contract with Warner expired—after which he quickly changed it back to Prince. It would be most interesting to find out what other aliases he has worked under. I would propose that he is the singer One on Bootsy Collins' songs Groove Eternal and Dance 2 The Music, he definitely had some sort of hand in those songs imho. Any other possibilities? I believe we know every Prince contribution on offically released songs save maybe a few on Hey Man... Smell My Finger. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Wasn't it rumored that he contributed uncredited to at least one of Lenny Kravitz's albums? I believe it was supposedly Circus.

No we do not. For a long time no one knew he was on Like A Prayer or that he contributed to "Stand Back' He has used fake name but maybe on songs with no credit at all.

You can't prove your point, I can't prove mine, so no need to transform your "I believe we do not" into a "no we do not", you don't know shit: you only have an opinion and so do I.
I've been a fan since 1989 and we already knew about Stand Back back then. What did we learn that we didn't know since I became a fan... Mmmh... Let me see: Like A Prayer, Keep It Together and Act of Contrition indeed, though there were reumors about P being at least behing AOC ever since the album's release. Prince playing guitar on Candle Dance, which was revealed by Koppleman years later. Prince singing Background vox on Satisfied, which was revealed by ChronicFreeze on this very forume. And oh yeah: I think it also took a few years for the folks from Lois Lane to reveal that P had tempered a few songs on their album. I think that's pretty much it: the minute Per Nielsen and Uptown Mag got involved in this basically each and every Prince involvement in any released recording was unmasked. My point is that people speak. If you're gonna have Prince on your album sooner or later you're gonna want the world to know about it and you're gonna speak, and if you don't a sound engineer or a producer or anyone from you staff will. So I'm not saying it's stricly impossible that one or two contributions may have slipped through the cracks (one or two, not 20!) but I'm saying it's highly unlikely, save once again with Hey Man... Smell My Finger, an album for which it's very unclear who did what at which point. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/
