Was supposed to be filmed at wembley stadium but the English weather meant concert was cancelled and Westminster Council wouldn't grant last minute licence for Earls Court..... And I had tickets for row 8 and even bout a peach t-shirt as instructed on the tickets

The bad weather reason was a cover story for poor ticket sales at Wembley. The tour catered for rain. It chucked in down in Utrect before he cancelled London and the show went ahead no problem. Besides, London hadn't been forecasting bad weather.

He bit off more than he could chew attempting two nights. That would have been 120,000 tickets. The re-application to Earls Court would have only catered for 45,000 over 3 nights.

Shame. I had row A seats for both Wembley nights having queued overnight to get them. I still have the 5 foot poster for the Wembley gigs somewhere.

really ?..i also had a ticket for wembley that year..why didnt he just cancel one of the shows then ?...strange that he played numerous shows the following years in the uk and sold hundreds of thousands of tickets yet he couldnt sell 120,000 at the very peak of his genius ?..

We'll never know for sure, but that was the strong rumour, and the fact that they tried to move two stadium nights to much smaller indoor arenas is telling.

Don't forget 87 wasn't huge for the casual Prince fan, tickets were expensive and they put the tickets on sale way to late to have a chance of selling out.

Madonna only managed 3 nights to sell out and she was ruling the charts and gave twice the notice for ticket sales. This was a period when the likes of Queen and Simple Minds only did one night. U2 managed 2, but were in their peak year.

I think Prince could have done one night, but he put them both on sale from day one, diluting the fans, meaning he could have ended up making a film with a half empty stadium.

I guess it had to be two nights so they could get pick up shots.

The concerts were cancel when no bad weather was forecast and he was on Mainland Europe often playing soaking wet audiences.

It looks incredible in HD. I wonder if there's any chance of a blu-ray release. I never want to watch the DVD version again.

it's out on bluray. it seems to be the same transfer except sky broadcast a 25fs version in stereo whilst the bluray is 24fps and has a nice 5.1 mix. so the sky version suffers from 4% speedup like the old PAL vhs

Yeah, the broadcast was somewhat disappointing for that very reason. Didn't realise it was available on blu-ray.....I'm assuming it's a legit release?
