I have read a lot of half-truths about 2013 (now!) being a big year or whatever they wrote.

And now you start the charade again but for 2014?

Release some decent stuff and then do a decent tour.

Ok, after waiting nearly a year in 2013 for another strong album, now 2014 will be big.. ok. Really?

This is sad and funny at the same time.

Prince is an outstanding musician, but he is amateurish when it comes to promote his music.

I was speaking primarily of reply #3, not genuine requests for more info. Also, perhaps that's what the "Breakfast Experience" remix EP by Josh Welton is supposed to be, a stopgap release. I just hope it has a physical release not just a download.

Okay--first, things first.

Thedance--I doubt that Plectrum Electrum's release will be, for you, the sign of a big year--but if it would be, IF it comes out in January, that would be another month, not another year, from the 2013 promise (which isn't a washout until December 31, technically. However, I expect that Plectrum Electrum, if it comes out, will be Prince/3rdEyeGirl/NewPowerGeneration music as that music has been made in recent months--in other words, many of the people here won't like it, and it's not going to make 2014 a big year for those people either.

From Prince's perspective... well, it ain't Purple Rain or Diamonds and Pearls big, but he's been busy, lots of small things have been happening, and I get the impression there's been lots of recording. There's some sort of big deal in place--actual release of an album is probably not, for him, that big a focus. For most of us, who won't get to a show, and are only teased by incomplete tracks from shows we're not seeing--an album would be a big deal.

Oh well--I don't know why anyone decided to put much faith in the "2013 is gonna be big" talk, anyway. I've liked a lot of what's happened, but I'd like an album to provide a fuller listening experience--or even (honestly) a live-based release that presents full tracks in a semblance of a show (since I know the chances of a complete show are pretty small). A 3rdEyeGirl One Nite Alone-style release might be nice. I've heard enough boots to know he could put together a "best-of" type show that I'd enjoy.

The press release announcing the “Breakfast Can Wait” video does mention that Prince’s band 3rdEyeGirl is expecting to release their debut album Plectrum Electrum early next year.

A release date has yet to be confirmed for a full album, which is rumored to be named Plectrum Electrum, but it is tentatively due out in Jan. 2014.
