Thanks to the mod who corrected the headline.

Yes -- new NPG twitter feed, not necessarily a new Prince feed.

My bad.

Still!

So we have a feed of certain info of uncertain source and we openly post the outtakes (!) linked in there?

Why do you insist on playing this game every time a new a channel pops up? How much more confirmation do you need than the 3rd Eye Girl account and Dr Funkenberry linking to it?

Is it me or is most of the bassline lifted from Funkin'for Jamaica by Tom Browne (with Marcus Miller on bass)?

When we compare to this love of his for the hits then this situation really shows a big injustice.

So, cuz he doesn;t put out reissues inyour opinion his legacy is tarnished

Not just reissues. Reissues as in remaster, outtakes, etc.

The lack of anything that shows love of these tracks.

It shows that the songs are not getting the treatment they deserve.

And I do not say this because I feel we have a right to those releases or anything like that.

It is because his shown inability to do anything like this, thus far since his departure from the WB contract(s).

Let him announce stuff five years in the future ('becaus ethen the masters will be all mine' or something like that) and let him give us a preview.

But he doesn't even do that. lol

Haha.

So recall the Montreux 2009 recording fiasco.

That is the template you can retroactively put on all past experiences in the same corner.

Prince is now an independent artist, i.e. the general public knows very little, if anything, about his musical whereabouts. This is still shocking to most people here,

His PR is quite disastrous: it most clearly lacks coherence.

No sane person would come up with this as a plan.

So please do not put us in a weird corner as we do understand the reality where we're in.

He's an artist, its not his job to be coherent for you. Either you're entertained by it or you're not. If you're not follow someone who's more "down to earth" and normal. Im not a Prince fan for "normality". I enjoy the rollercoaster ride that is his work and his life. It's like someone liking something by Lars von Trier and complaining each time he doesnt do something you like and asking HIM to be normal and like Steven Spielberg or some other generic director. If you want Steven Spielberg then watch HIM, don't try to change Lars von Trier for the rest of the work who enjoys him for who he is.

Change it one more time..

There is a slightly long version on the YouTube ad for the concert on the 5th. ends with the words break down.

V10LETBLUES

The horns sound awesome, as alwasys...but that lame sloppy-seconds mid-tempo beat he is so enamoured with that he uses on everything. So boring and tired, wish he got over it already and tried something a little more intersting.

Fair points, but even if he is gaining attention by just how poorly and unprofessionally it is all managed? It's a trainwreck, my dear friend, no matter how it is dressed up. A TRAINWRECK. Remember, www.housequake.com, www.thedatabank.org, www.dabang319.blogspot.in etc, even Serpan-gate. The whole PR management (or lack of), event after event, mismanaged from one fiasco to another, it is a TRAINWRECK, and continuously derailing. He has lost so many fans, not to mention goodwill, over the years, it's actually not funny. The ones remaining are usually the ones who haven't been f*c$ed with enough yet or perhaps enjoy a degree of sadomasochism. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that it's NOT a particularly positive or uplifting experience to be a Prince fan, to the extent that even level-headed and fair-minded people now empathise with the likes of BartVH. The whole Prince-fan experience is littered with underlying deep-seated, somewhat disturbing, psychological dysfunction, unfortunately stemming systemically from the head of the organisation himself...a rather spoilt little genius called PRINCE.

*

Like I said, it's a TRAINWRECK. Still, I think I might really like Big City ... lol

I agree with you spiritotter. Haha Prince has been like that forever. I have been a lover of his music a long time but paid closer attention to him only in the past year. And it is getting a bit tedious for me. How do some fans keep up with this for 20 years or more?? I loosely follow other indi artists and their social media strategy includes posting tracks and pics of studio sessions and concert photos etc but no teasing and announcements about upcoming announcements. The challenge is using social media and websites in a coherent fashion to maintain an interest and keep fans informed, like working on your next album or while you are on tour. Prince's social media approach is like a scattergun approach and it's not clear what it is all about. I think part of the problem is that he is not engaging with fans/ music lovers but many of his associates are and so all we get are seemingly uncoordinated fragments.

"I think part of the problem is that he is not engaging with fans/ music lovers"

I think it's cool that Prince is on Twitter but rarely does he tweet about the actual music. Usually when Prince tweets he's replying to fans that want to know about his afro, what kind of cereal he eats etc. I'm still surprised Prince is tweeting, but what will he do with the exposure he has on Twitter? Only time will tell.

Exactly, the tweets are random, and my guess is most of them are not from him but someone in his team. Prince is just playing around on Twitter. The websites are a different situation. He has a bad track record there.
Young indi artists use social media and websites more purposefully than Prince.

He's an artist, its not his job to be coherent for you. Either you're entertained by it or you're not.

As if the recent years show an ability to keep up the attention, raise the interest, release stuff on time, etc.

You are erring from the main issue.

It is not about what I think of it, it is about what it is.

Playing hits for years on end is bad for an artist of Prince's calibre. Yes, everyone does it so mr P shouldn't.

Releasing stuff is an art that Michael J had mastered. Mr P is still learning.

If you're not follow someone who's more "down to earth" and normal.

If mr P is boring, then who isn't?

Get real.

Mr P can do whatever he wants but it shows no idea, no concept, no coherence, no goal or whatever when it comes to tours and releases.

And those two things are what all else revolves around.

Prince doing the big band thing so? It's an idea. If it works it'll be awesome.

Mwoach, does not sound too big.

It sounds kinda gogo-ish.

sure. I like his idea though: having one small rocking band that's all guitars and then another huge band with a massive brass section where Prince Cab Calloway's all over the stage.

Would not be bad to see both on the same evening.

Trickology

This song is horrible. Where are the clap drum loops, a rap from a protege never to be heard again,Prince with his beatnik poetry about the messiah returning to show us the truth,

I'm just kidding. lol This big band sound is impressive & it works well. Sort of continuation of Hornheadz and expanding on that. More this and less 3eg L.O.L. w/ Britney lite vocals.

Because i would not have at the same time a npg twitter with all new horn players tweeting a link to a song were other horn players had played on.
