How......

....does one go from making such beautiful music as "Alexa De Paris", to making "Purple & Gold"?

I really believe that we no longer need any new Prince music whatsoever. I tend to cringe when listening to most new Prince music. Is it because he stopped using witchcraft? Surely it can't just be the JW shit. All I ever look forward to are clear bootlegs now. What could it be that has turned him into such a lame musically now days, when it comes to making new music? I mean, damn, we all know how Great Prince CAN be, but we're all still waiting for a truly new classic album to emerge...... lol disbelief

What can I say? Purple & Gold may have been nothing more than a favor he did to that football/baseball (I don't really know!) team just like 4 the Tears in Your Eyes was a favor to the USA 4 Africa team.
It happens to a lot of musicians. The Rooling Stones did a successful set at Glastonbury, but I think most of their fans will agree that, even though Doom and Gloom is an okay song (better than R&R Love Affair if you ask me) their best days were in the past...
So I guess we'll just have to sit back, see what the little purple guy comes up with, listen to it, either like it or not, enjoy the occasional live show (iff it's affordable) and for the rest...just enjoy all the good stuff he made.
