This is why we have to be thankful for those "bootleggers" that have carefully documented Prince's live shows over the years. They may not be great quality (although they have gotten better as technology has advanced) but they are definitely a great record of some of the amazing experiences we have been blessed to witness over the last 4 decades, and they are "honest" as in a true uncut representation of the concert as it was witnessed!

Yes, exactly. And that's how shows should be presented - just as they were. But it seems that he cannot help himslef chopping shit up. And that DVD is just bloody awful. For a musician of his stature, his official releases are just plain embarrassing.

Thank Jehovah for the bootleggers

I'm pretty sure that was chopped up because the footage from the other songs was unusable.

And does anyone know why The Ride was a "bonus" and not just part of the regular DVD?

Unusable compared to what ended up on it? Wow. A dog must have chewed it up.

I have N.E.W.S. for you...

As hard as he works, like nobody... I know and those that are
selected to work with him; all have an accurate picture of the
direction he sets forth for all to have a unique
journey with him, now with this being said...

I will say it one more time...

I love the Aladdin video (which is NOT) a bootleg and purchased
outright from a REAL record store aka was in his NPG store site, period.

It is a RAW N REAL compilation of Super Fantastic musicians, who were under the direction of a man who Honed in on the craft for which GOD almighty gave him, so my ears and everybody else could enjoy how he presented it, period in whatever form he wanted too, period.

God Bless you all, goodnight and for pete sake,

Smile, laugh and live in peace....

I agree with the comments regarding the quality. However when he gives me that snippet of "Strollin" where he sings ..."There's so much hate going round, hard not to let it get you down, the least we can do is make a joyful sound"...I instantly forgive all. I could listen him sing that all day long.

I sooo agree on that.

Sometimes, though ya gotta stand up and say something.
Like Jesus in the temple tellin those taxation peeps, "not in my fathers house"...
Well, I walk in those boots sometimes.
I'm not against anybody's opinions ... I just see things different - maybe I just got too much fire in my heart and extremely passionate about something unexplainable.

Not all cake has the same icing :)

Take care...
Thank you.

Just a funny little tidbit: I was at one of the dance parties at Paisley in (I believe) summer of 2002, when he played Musicology (the song) for us for the first time and played parts from the Aladdin video. While watching the video, I was pretty shocked by the inferior quality, and I have no poker face whatsoever, so I'm sure it showed. In fact, I think I was shaking my head at one point, when I looked across the room, and locked eyes with Prince ... who looked like he wanted to jump across the room and pop out my eyeballs with his heels.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Must've been 2003, because the concert in Las Vegas was recorded December 12, 2002.

Just rewatched the show because of this thread. It was a whole lot more enjoyable than what I remembered. There's tons of great musicianship in it and Prince still has got the moves as well.

,,, and it's hardly like the concert footage from the 1990s wouldn't have been overexposed. It seems like Prince even used that intentionally as an effect (The Sacrifice Of Victor VHS cover, anyone?).

oh prince, I guess it's you because no normal being could be so in love with this poor quality release. I get that you love it, and of course that's fine, but the reality of the poor video and audio is undeniable. If you're going to keep posting here Prince, you're gonna have to roll with things a bit.
RIP sad
