What is he waiting for, we are waiting, and then still waiting..


It's almost a year since we heard "2013 will be BIG":



And nothing happens, still waiting for the album.

Looks like they are still busy recording:

I don't see why you care since it won't have been recorded between 1978 and 1995 and WB won't be there to make it sound good so if there was a new album you'd be the first one to come here and post a new thread every week to say how you hate it

Or maybe that's why you gave-up the weekly "Prince is over and done" thread: because there's no new music to bitch about so you can't wait for the new album to be released and give you something to bitch about?

There has already been more than an album's worth of new material released this year.

Haha even I can see there's some truth in the attack from databank.

Even Prince's recent albums (since many years), has been rather poor, there's about 2 or 3 and sometimes even more "ok" songs on each album.

That's the reason I haven't givin up as a fan - not yet.

I am looking forward to the album(s), however: the wait is a bit annoying though.

Is he playing a game - or what is he waiting for, release those album(s) for Christ's sake....

It sounds like they're not finished yet. Isn't it better to wait until Prince thinks it's done rather than rush it out? Which do you think you'd be happier with?

that's true all anyone has to do is simply gather up all the songs that have been released this year and compile it on a CD-R...there's your new Prince album for 2013!

Great point, and very tough to answer... He's had great albums that were both rushed and "carefully groomed".

Off the top, I think that 'Dirty Mind', 'Controversy', 'Parade', 'Lovesexy', and possibly 'The Rainbow Children' were all sort of rushed releases.

That, of course, still leaves some great albums that weren't rushed, amongst which are '1999', 'Purple Rain', 'Around The World in a Day', 'Sign O' The Times', and 'Lotusflow3r'.

Yup. It's a tough call.

G, I can't believe you think TRC, of all albums, was a rushed affair? If anything, that album was meticulously crafted!

Months and months of recording and still not enough material available to release an album.

Somebody should ask Prince if he still believes in a 3rdeyegirl legacy. I don't.

I believe that 'The Rainbow Children' was recorded, mixed, mastered, and released very quickly. Of course it is meticulously crafted. So is 'Lovesexy', and that was essentially just Prince as well. These two albums were created and released quickly. Both have a thematic flow. Both are meticulously crafted. This is why I said it tough to answer... he has great work on both sides of that fence.

No,it's not the same,but this is pretty much how Prince works these days.He releases new songs randomly and makes them available for fans to purchase.Maybe he's bored with doing things the 'normal way' ?

An album is (usually) a cohesive work of art with a beginning, a middle and an end, not just a random collection of tracks. In that sense releasing separate tracks will never recreate the magic of an album 4 me, which is why I've listened to P's albums much more than I've listened to any collection of outtakes. But nonetheless I can appreciate the stuff on a one by one basis, and some of these live and rehearsal things we got on Livestream make nice live EP's.

Prince releases an album of new music and it's recieved as usual on here 50/50. Then the threads starts bashing it to hell and the statements begin about quality control, him being surrounded by yes men and "taking time to make a better CD".

When Prince takes more than 11 months to head into a new album release it's recieved on here with the same 50/50 attitude but then the threads are about him hurrying up and releasing the music, why is it taking so long and maybe he's bored and topics like this thread we're on now.

Doesn't help that there have been album release threads with no concrete info to back them up.

Prince has been playing around with different band lineups/sounds and styles in 2013 and having fun on the road playing with both 3rd Eye Girl and The NPG. Seems like he's taking his time on a new album this time around and not just rushing out something to appease impatient fans.

The OP hasn't enjoyed much of what we've been given in 2013(from his multiple threads on the topic) yet seems sold on the "album" being able to change that(from his multiple threads on the topic) for him. Still it comes across as disingenuous based upon the repeated threads about how everything released past 1995 has pretty much sucked for him.

So then why is The Dance clamoring for something your basically saying he'll be disappointed by? And who's issue is that his or Princes?
