Best Replication of Prince's 80s Sound Damn, this kid has got Prince 80s sound down cold. Usually, I dont care for MPLS inspired tracks because they are so half assed, but this guy not only studied Prince's sound, but also the way he thinks. Hopefully, he will grow to develop his own sound, but he is off to a great start. He's got to be an orger.

DAG. This 17 year old knows what's up. "He's a musician's musician..."

Morning Glories Never Cry? That's going a bit far with the homage, maybe?

Certainly not bad at all for a 17 year old. But the songs are kinda boring and the only thing that makes me think of Prince is some of the drum sounds and maybe a keyboard here and there. I think in time this person will be making slamming funk tracks though. ~And even when I'm right, I'll be wrong...it's Automatic too.

Yeah, I know. I just haven't seen anyone so completly, consistently, and effortlessly replicate Prince's sound. Nothing sounds forced or out of place. Purely on a technical level, I'm impressed. And this guy is only 17. He's breaking down his musical heroes and figuring them out. The next step is developing his own sound.

I think the problem is the drums are mixed too high. Also they dont have the strong melodies and vocals that makes Prince songs soar. But he has the grooves down perfect.

Moovmint reminds me more of a Gap Band track (You dropped a Bomb on Me?)
