Obviously, it is Prince impersonating the shopkeeper. However, I always thought he was comically impersonating a female 'handyman' shopkeeper. In the dialogue, the shopkeeper played by Prince suggests, "Body massger, puhlease! ... Yeah, my back's been acting up, too...in fact, it acts up every time my boyfriend leaves bwahah" etc.

But I listened to it just now and wondered for the first time (don't ask me why), is he actually impersonating a female 'handyman' shopkeeper or is he impersonating his male self in the form of a Jamie Starr-like persona?

If he is playing the role of a female 'handyman' shopkeeper, then he/she sure sounds like a Jamie Starr-like male in the role? In other words, she has a deep, husky, funky voice?!

But if he is in fact playing a male 'handyman' shopkeeper (which would certainly be in keeping with gender stereotypes of men working in handystores at the time, rather than females), then isn't that scene gay-friendly in the role play, by even suggesting he has a boyfriend?

Finally, maybe it's not a handystore, in which case, wtf is it?! It sounds SILENT in there, but at least they just so happen to stock up on spare batteries for body massagers.
