My Summertime Thang: can I undo what 4DF did?

I'm both really pissed at and grateful towards 4DF: they create unprecedently good sounding versions of old boots but sometimes they just decide to toy with them and alter them, and they omit to release the original version, when they could just release BOTH (it's free, after all).

Anyway, I'd really LOVE to be able to hear the Corporate World album exactly the way it was intended and I realized that (oddly enough) I don't have an old version of MTT so I don't remember how it was supposed to end? The track's duration is supposedly 8:44 and at this point on 4DF's version there's a clear cut with Morris sampled sayaing "G-G-G-G-Get ready", and then Pt. 2 starts. Did 4DF just paste Pt. 2 to part one, in which case if I know exactly where it cuts (before or after the "get ready"?) I can asily bring it back to its original form, or did they cut a part, such as a fade at the end of Pt. 1 and/or the beginning of pt. 2, in which case I'm soooooo fucked?

Many thanks 4 ur help smile

Well, I can't tell. I've got the Work It 2.0 version available right now (but just of the 1st part--and I don't remember where my full Work It is, it's in a mess of discs) and the 4DF--they don't seem to be doing the same thing at 8:44--at all. Work It's version is ending with some repetitions of "Roller Skates" then a series of "Now let's be nice"'s, "It's such a pretty day," Then a big "Oh Lord" and then that's it. Morris is the last sound. But DFB (at least mine does) has around 8:40 Morris saying "chili sauce" and then goes into this piano solo. Which doesn't sound like what you're hearing.

I have another version of the Corporate World album (I don't remember where from, though I think I have the information somewhere--but I doubt I could find it) that has a 7:15 for pt. 1 and 4:27 for the "remix" (as labeled). But that ends with several "my summertime thang"'s some crowd yelling and a musical hit, followed by an all together "My summertime thang" and an "I'm back!" followed by an ominous synthy-organ chord. Than the next track starts with the car sounds again.

Actually, sounds pretty similar to the DFB around 7:15--except (and I think you might be out of luck here, databank)--no organ, and there's a flurry of drums around the "I'm back" on DFB, and at least this "remix" has a different, more distinct "beginning" section than the DFB does after etiher possible breaking point (7:15 or 8:45). Right now, I can't tell what they've actually done and where they've done it, but it looks like more than just a simple tacking them together.

This is soooo odd. Princevault only lists one 1989 unreleased version + its pt. 2, and we don't have the 83 version as far as I know, so I'm very very confused now eek

I also didn't know that DFB did their own version of CW (or is it just the track on a random compilation of outtakes? because I can't find any info on a DFB release of CW using Google).

Thanks for this, though.

Anyone has more info?

There's a reason you can't find anything about a DFB release--my brain went kind of screwy. Please read 4DF wherever I said DFB. What I don't understand is why our 4DF's seem different. Like I said, I don't know where my 7:15 second one comes from (and it's 4:27 second part).

I'd like to have the original "however Prince and the bunch left it" version--but I enjoy the 4DF long version.
