This is one of the weakest singles of his entire career. A disastrous choice for a single and will undoubtedly make no chart impact whatsoever. |

Although you started off a bit harsh, I do agree the song is too weak to make a (significant) chart impact. It is just not very melodic or catchy enough IMO, I'd be very surprised if it'd do anything on the charts. Plus the Smurf voice is not doing the song any service... RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time... |

I like it.. imo Breakfast Can Wait is the best song released in 2013.
Actually it's about the only song from this year I can hear with pleasure (the rest sucks).

It probably won't become a huge pop hit,but I think it will make some noise on the R&B charts. |

The song is undoubtedly Prince's best effort to create something that will leave most musiclovers completly untouched and bored. "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." - Carl Sagan |

Why doesn't he hire professionals?
Is he obliged to give the twinz a job?
We all saw what happens when you hire the wrong person to make the video; see blurred lines. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%. |

No, Prince is not obliged to do any such thing. He should go with his gut instinct and do what's best for his video / career.

Keep in mind for the general public that buys their music from iTunes/Amazon/Google Play (as opposed to obscure websites) the song was only released this past Tuesday via Kobalt/AWAL and a lot of people hadn't heard of it before. Not everyone is glued to this forum or music blogs.
i dont think the song is even known by general public just yet. when its played on radio,tv etc u can say that. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet? |

Does anyone really think a 55-year-old guy is going to release a song that is going to chart on the pop charts?
Really? Y'all think the 16-year-olds of this country are going to bop to something written by a guy nearly 40 years older than them?
They aren't. Prince knows this. It's not a reflection on him or the quality of his music. It's just the way young people think. So he does what he wants to do, and he writes what he thinks you want to hear. And he knows most of you last saw 16 a long time ago.
But if you think Prince is writing stuff hoping to get teens' attention, you're not living in the real world. |

My comment was in response to people moaning about him releasing a "six-month old song" as if that made a difference. From looking at social media a lot of people ARE hearing about it for the first time primarily from when it was aired on the Tom Joyner Morning Show (most of the mentions reference this). The reaction is mostly positive from that group as the TJMS is mostly aired on Urban AC stations, and mixed from everyone else. Also this...

This is kind of weird because the tempo of Breakfast Can Wait--nothing about it tells me it is a song to dance to. Certainly nothing requiring a whole dance troupe. You think that guys never organised an audition, just to see all kind of girls dance in front of them, or doing an effort to get a job?
I don't think Prince would do that, btw. If he did, I would personally kick his but!
So, the auditions are not fake. But it's Prince. So, he might organise the audition, make a video and then decide it's not good enough. One never knows. Not even Prince.

Prince's videos are usually terrible, because he and his EGO are always the stars. R&RLA could have been a story video with actors, but why come up with something fun or interesting when P can just turn the camera on himself and lip sync to no great effect-again, for the 1000th time.

Breakfast Can Wait is the best song from his recent group of new songs. Better than R&R Affair, and any songs with 3EG. I'm glad he's doing something with the song. Good. Still it, months later.
