Just to say, the 'worst album ever' thread actually has a lot of "positivity" and constructive criticism - pretty much everything someone says is the worst, someone else is saying they love and why. So so-called negative threads aren't always that. Just sayin' . . My personal top ten: . 1. Parade 2. Controversy 3. Romance 1600 4. For You 5. Prince 6. Around The World In A Day 7. Black Album 8. Lovesexy 9. 1999 10. 16 . . And can I just say, Godfuckingdamn, when are they going to fix this whole no paragraph thing in the forum software?! It's been borked for months, probably close to a year or something. It drives me nuts! [Edited 9/10/13 5:32am]

Really? I mean I'll never knock someone for their musical tastes, but your top 10 is...... well.... unique. Points for being 100% different than anyone else. "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

Some of these can not be accepted, the question was the Best 10 Prince albums, not "best 10 albums" written by Prince, so Basically I don't think people should be albe to get away with
Romance 1600 - A Sheila E album 1 -800 New Funk - A mixture of artists, Prince is in one duet I think 16 - Madhouse Album
If such bizarre albums were allowed most of us would have different lists
How does the original starter of this thread feel about these choices. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Time for an update, after 30 lists we now have the following results. Aseries of Maverick and "different" alternative free floaters has shaked up the marks a bit. Despite this, the top performers are still unchanged, but now at least, nearly all of the albums have some votes. First of all no album has appeared on all 30 lists, but the best now Purple Rain and Parade have appeared on 27 lists each, only not appearing on the 3 lists I consider maverick. Sign is on one less at 26. On the other hand, 5 albums have failed to make any of the Top 10 lists. these are Hits/Bsides, The Vault, Newpowersoul and Rave in 2 the Joy fantastic, Indigo Nights.
NPGMC albums have also failed to make the cut.
More bizarre votes include 14 Points for Exodus from 2 lists and Romance 1600 by Sheila E getting 6 points, Madhouse 16 and 1 -800 New funk gaining points as well. A single Purple Medley has also been voted. I have decided not to include them in the marks, but have at least acknowledged them. New scores 2. Purple Rain - 190 points, been neck and neck with Parade, but a 1st place in the last list compared to a 4th for Parde has placed into 2nd place. 3. Parade - 186 points, another very high scoring album 4. 1999 - 150 points, secure 4th place with exactly half of all the possible marks it could get, appeared on 24 lists 5. Lovesexy - 115 The only other album to get over 100 points appearing on 24 lists. Lovesexy is in everyone's top 10, but not really too many number 1s still an enduring and popular choice. 6. ATWIAD - 85 (18 lists) 7. Dirty Mind - 72 (13) 8. The Gold Experience - 64 (16) first non 80s album 9. Controversy - 57 (15) 10. The Rainbow Children - 56 (10) first 2000s album
So your top 10 Prince Albums as voted by you
1. Sign o the Times, 1987 2. Purple Rain, 1984 3. Parade, 1986 4. 1999, 1982 5. Lovesexy, 1988 6. Around the World in a day, 1985 7. Dirty Mind, 1980 8. The Gold Experience, 1995 9. Controversy, 1981 10. The Rainbow Children, 2001 Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

1. Sign ‘O’ The Times 2. Purple Rain 3. Emancipation 4. Dirty Mind 5. Chaos And Disorder 6. Love Symbol 7. Musicology 8. 1999 9. The Gold Experience 10. Diamonds And Pearls . I starting listening to Prince in the nineties (first record was Love Symbol) in Zimbabwe/SA and for a long time that was all the Prince I had access to. It's only when i can to UK that I heard the rest (I also already had The Hits). So that might be why I still like those nineties records. They remind me of home and my early 20s.

Thanks guys, and when we get up to 40 or 45 lists will post full update, meanwhile after 36 lists, Purple Rain has extended further into 2nd place and is coming after Sign, which still has about a 25 point lead. Parade, 1999 and Lovesexy still hold their places, ATWIAD is the 6th album to get 100 points, Dirty Mind is in the 90s and TGE has reached 80s, Rainbow children has surged past Controversy to get 9th place. Lotusflow3r is doing well in 11th place. No new albums have joined the list in the past few lists. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
