Whether it is considered good (or not), it is still what is potentially available to make a compilation album of sorts. If we had the equivalent list for each year from 1989 until the present date, there will ALWAYS be someone who thinks the songs are not worth their time, but they are nonetheless the songs that are likely to be representative of that year. Personally, I have enjoyed the year so far with all its bits and pieces.

^Don't think so. I have the impression that your kind of enjoyment is more on a spiritual level. It doesn't have to do with the actual quality of the tracks per se.

In my case it has to do with my capacity to find things I enjoy in a very HUGE amount of music, Prince or otherwise

Then you have your eyes and ears closed. Open them, and read SpiritOtter's first post. And realize that in addition to that, there are at least three videos that have been released for purchase, and several more posted by Prince to YouTube.

I have been diggin my 2013 playlist. It's enough tracks to make an album so I am happy. I don't really care if an "album" comes out or not really. I haven't liked much of his stuff the last few years, but this stuff has been cool imo. I like the freshness the girls have brought to his stuff..and it seems he's having fun with the material.

I just wish I could see 3rd eye girl and Prince live...u West Coasters were so lucky to see him rockin out raw with the girls. I don't want horns, NPG, or back up singers. All the footage I have seen with just the 4 of them is just crazy cool.

I agree with the OP. Releasing disconnected songs for download is far from being an album, however great those songs may be. An album is a consistent artistic project, with songs sequenced, links between the tracks, an artwork to go with the music. You can make a playlist with the tracks, but that's absolutely not a Prince album. I still love the concept of "albums", and it would be very sad that a third year without a Prince album passes.
