What a BEAT. I had overlooked this one, for quite some time. But with newly finding that 12 inch of Trust recently, I have revisted some of this era's extended versions, and this Vicky Vale Mix is a brilliant, funky, reworking of Batdance. There's actually quite a lot going on; give it a listen if you get a chance. Just out of curiosity, was this version officially released?

i was listening to that mix a lot last month when i finally 'discovered' it.

somehow i had always overlooked it, despite having had it in my files

for years now. i couldn't get enough of it once i'd finally heard it. great

Thanks, langebleu. So, two things: 1 related - a CD is called a Maxi even if it contains just 3 songs on it? I thought that would be considered a "regular" CD-release. 1 unrelated - do you think it might be worthwhile having an HD Remaster's official sticky/news item, so that ALL HD Remaster releases can be documented within ONE thread? I know Bart has done a good job within one of the recent HD threads to document all the HD releases to date, as well as answering the technical questions, but I can't help but feel that the Org community, as a whole, would benefit from a stickyfied HD Remasters/Prince news piece. What's your perspective, langebleu? If you wish, I can find the Bart response which goes into some detail within one of the threads.

Phew, Isten. So, I am not the only one? When I (re)heard this Vicky Vale Mix, I couldn't help but think, how did this NOT register with me before? It kind of borrows some elements from a number of Prince productions around that time, even including some Lovesexy era instrumentation/words/themes, too. It's quite cool to (re)discover for a possibly overlooked musical extra to the Batman era.

The mix definitely borrows/brings out some nice portions/elements from Electric Chair, Dance With The Devil, Heaven Must Be Near, We Got The Power, the Scandalous moan, a sax sample and there is that nice "ow, baby" snippet (which I incidentally can't place where it is originally from exactly)??

Just allowed my 9 and 5 year old to watch Batman (c 1989) after letting them jam to the soundtrack for quite a few months. My 5 year old's favorite mix is the "Mickey Vale Mix."

Have loved it since it came out in 1989 - a full mix dedicated to the funkiest portion of the album version.

That kick ass remix was always my favorite. I love it when the shakers kick in during Vicky's "Oh, bats...". I remember hearing that mix played on the radio a few times back then.

I've found the extended and dub versions (a matter of minutes at the time)--the extended's pretty nice. I don't know if the others are out there or not.
