Hardly worst album... That honor goes to MPLSound without a doubt.

Oh HELL NAW!!!
The playing is great, and Sonny and Michael B make it sound hot and urgent. I have no idea why people dump on this album all the time. Its much better than the sprawling and messy Emancipation, you know, I rock therefore I am is so much better than Mr Happy and all the shit on NewPowersoul. If anything to me, its The Gold experience part 2. [Edited 8/25/13 17:54pm] Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

For an album that wasnt meant to be, and is full of fillers........... The 1st half of C&D shits on anything he's released post WEA era.

I think so too, far more interesting than most of the music that would follow after 1996...
Worst album/ disappointment has got to be Emancipation: 36 songs on 3 discs and not ONE song on there that I really like... RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I always really liked (most of) C&D. For me Planet Earth is waaaaaaaaaay worse than C&D. That one was a real let down for me. "Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"

one of the few that doesn't sound good whilst listening to it in a car. not hating on the album, but it sounds like a collection of vault tracks put together with the two or three songs he had written at the mo. at least C n D has sum passion behind it, even if it is misguided. (C&D) It's a fun album. Interesting stuff on it with a few gems. Anybody who heard Prince play I like it there at his recent tour knows what's up-just saying. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I find it difficult to compare them, since they're so different musically, but they're both masterpices. I definitely wouldn't know which one to choose. Both would rank between number 5 and 10 in my list of favourite Prince albums.

Yeah, Planet Earth was dreadful too, definately one of his worst albums ever... RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I agree that they are both masterpieces, for completely different reasons. The only thing they have in common is their ballsiness (non-conformist)! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

If we're including Kamasutra, then I'd say that's the one. Not because it isn't an interesting experiment, it just sounds unfinished, rushed, and is incohesive. Which is a shame, because it is an interesting experiment, for experiment's sake. If that's not counted, then I'd say it's a coin toss between The Chocolate Invasion and The Slaughterhouse, both of which contain much filler and average "jamz" with dated sounds. [Edited 8/25/13 23:20pm] I remember how disappointed I was with Musicology cuz after TRC I was expecting more quality material from Prince, but instead it went into the opposite direction and I wasn't really pleased with any Prince release after that until Lotusflow3r. Even Purple Rain. For some, it's too much 'rock', not enough 'funk' and 'soul'. Besides he 'sold out' lol. Silly of course, but it could be valid to some type of fan that really just isn't into all that, despite PR being Prince's break through signature album and containing several of his best songs ever.
Lovesexy? Yes, it's a musical masterpiece, as if Mozart himself was guiding him, as well as a lyricaly inspiring and uplifting album, as if God Himself was guiding him. But when you would let your friends listen to Prince for the 1st time, do you give them the Purple rain album first or Lovesexy? No comparison there as in popular appeal and the sheer quality of songs. SOTT cannot escape the axe of scrutiny either. Sure, it's Prince's 'magnus opus' and what not, but it never was what Prince intended. He intended a triple album release, including much of the crystal ball, dream factory and camille stuff we then officially missed out on. It should have contained everything Prince is about. But because WB didn't want it, we got 'Slow love'...
I could go on and on. For You bad? You don't know what you are talking about fool! For You is musically one of Prince's best albums. The only problem is it lacks hits and the performance, lyrics, arrangement and production wasn't yet the 'Prince' we got to know later with Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999. But even those albums have their flaws and controversy. Obviously!
It's a matter of taste ultimately whether you think the 'R&B sound', style of song writing and production, lack of guitar playing and way of singing, that some call 'plastic', such as on Emancipation, NPS and Rave, is any good or not. But it definitely changed Prince's music.
Then again what he still gave to WB in those years with Chaos and disorder ('rock') and The vault OF4S ('jazz') was incohesive and 'chaotic'. Not without thought, but with seemingly malicious thought and intent to diminish what could have been. Good music and performances, but with an exception here and there, not anything magnificent and leaving something of a bitter aftertaste; "contractual obligations" or 'filler'.
What came after, well, with a few exceptions I would not say it is 'bad', because Prince's bad shit is still better and 'badder' than other popular artist's bad shit. But I do think he has been taking a low ride for most of the time. Musicology really doesn't cut it for me. 3121 has its good moments, but also lacks in quality. PE is solid for half of it, unstable and unworthy for the other half. . . .
why can't I make proper spaces?

Let there be no misunderstanding, for the die hard Parade fans: I think Parade is among his best albums. But it also has some serious flaws.

I love Chaos and Disorder. I have to admit, when I first heard it, I was a little taken back, not sure what to think. I thought "Right the Wrong" sounded like a Branson, Mo showstopper, and trust me, I know, I went to college near Branson. But the more it sunk in, the more I started to excite me. It is one of my favorite Prince/ albums. "this is where the PURPLE PARTY PEOPLE be"
