and why are you comparing me to most orgers because that is condescending and degrading.....ok, I made the mistake of saying that it was a sax when it was a trumpet....like that is really a big deal.....

Not scolding, just educating. Playing trumpet doesn't matter. I'd say most orgers don't play ANY instrument and they know. Now you know. That's all I was trying to do. No harm, no beef.

again, it was an honest mistake and I always think of eric leeds sax whenever I hear a horn on Prince's music.

Hello, "OutsideTheBox". Don't let SpiritOtter's bullying get to you.

'Sticky Wicked' is a great track... I still have it on vinyl.

One correction for you though - Miles Davis played trumpet, not sax.

I love the rythym programming on that track... totally Prince.

It (bolded part) is a big deal, actually. At least it is to music geeks, of which you will find there are many of us here. wink

steakfinger isn't attacking you, no need to be defensive...

Wow.

I totally took funkomatic's statement to you as joking around, ribbing you a little.

You must have taken it as a serious attack to have gone all Christian Bale on him... lol

Relax.

cool

Shall we return to the topic?

that chicken grease guitar in the song is exactly how you know its a Prince song. funky pop song. I wonder who first started that style of rhythm guitar playing?

is that an oberheim synthesizer on that song because Prince was known for using them in the early 80's ?

I really like how the linn drum breaks it down with guitar and miles trumpet......reminds me the 1999 era sessions and Prince doing a lot of beat boxing for the rest of the song.....

with eric leeds, the atlanta bliss, and especially miles davis all on this prince song, this was a better dance pop song that a lot of the stuff that was out on the paisley park label at that time especially that dale bozzio album that included simon simon and so strong that I saw at the goodwill last weekend and 3 o clock's version of neon telephone. I even like its my party from the album now.

I like Sticky Wicked. But I like Can I Play With U (long version) even more. Classic Prince.

The music is fantastic, the lyrics are dire. It's a bit of a car crash happening in slow motion that you can't take your eyes off. Much like this passive agressive thread.

Great song! Never get tired of this one. I like it better than Can I Play With U? Although my copy of that song isnt very good which probably has something to do with. Regardless, SW is a killer tune.

You can get the long version of Can I Play With You in very good quality now. Worth tracking down using a search engine of your choice wink

Just the production alone on this song is better than anything that is on lovesexy album. Prince really put his foot into that one and I love it.

that song is evidence that Prince still had the funk in him despite what they were saying about how Prince had gone pop around that time. I am a real funkster so I am so happy to have the record for this song alone.

It's a great song.

And, to the op, don't be so bloody touchy. Spiritotter made a funny joke and you didn't get it. Then someone pointed out that Miles played the trumpet and there was a bit of (deserved) banter for you saying he played the sax (which is an entirely different instrument).
