I am really diggin' The Arms of Orion Aside from Seth, is there anyone else with me? Prince's vocals are juat sublime on this song and I actually really like the lyrics, too. They are deep. And the music is hauntingly sparse and yet melodic, plus I love the 89 era production by Prince, especially in its minimalist movements. Prince even released it as a single, so he, too, must have felt it was worthy of attention. I just cannot understand why almost everyone seems to universally hate it. I think it is one of the unsung gems in Prince's entire discography. Listen to it again , imagine you were deeply in love, and yearning to be with your soulmate. And then Sheena Easton walks into your bedroom from a hot shower, slowly drops her bath robes to the floor, revealing her glistening naked body and a Hollywood, before she begins to peel open a banana, a la The Partyman video. I mean, wtf was he meant to do? He had already made Scandalous Sex Suite with Kim Basinger and the pot of honey. '89 era Prince rocks hard. "American in Paris", "Vicky Waiting", "Lemon Crush", "Electric Chair", "Dance With The Devil" and The Arms of Orion are all hot. This was the era that got me into Prince. I was 11 years old. Batman. Stop. [Edited 8/18/13 2:34am]

Ashamed to say that it was one of my favourite songs for years, my excuse is that I was 8 when I first heard it! Even now I like it though, so maybe there are no excuses! I don't really know why I like it so much, maybe the vocal delivery, the simplicity, I just don't know.

when it was released I really hated it - the only track on Batman I didn't like - it was SO sugary sweet
now I really like it - very mature song for the time - or maybe I am just that much more 'mature'

I had always liked the music(except claire f shoulda come in there at the end), but it took me a while to get into the straightforward vocals. I eventually succumbed to the sweetness, and have loved it all ever since. ELEVEN!!

^Correction: It's 10! I've just made a joke about a tasteless grandma who loves this kind of schmaltzy stuff. I myself can't stand this track at all!

Anyway, I like the song. I don't love it, but it's good enough for me.
I may be a bigger sinner than SpiritOtter, since I love "Graffiti Bridge" (the song). I confess it surprised me when I joined this site and noticed that the majority of Prince fans hated it. I agreed with "Jughead", but "Graffiti Bridge"? It's great! I must be so cheesy...
Note: My comments on "Graffiti Bridge" are completely serious. [Edited 8/18/13 13:41pm]

TAO is not a favorite of mine, but I never got the hate for this song. It's Prince's version of an 80s power ballad.

I just had a quite worrying though, if I go back through my history as a prince fan, this is probably only second to "purple rain" as my most played song! I probably spent two years listening to a cassette with it repeated for a whole side, with "I love you in me" looped on the other!

omg.. LOVE this song...
especially when he sings ' god only knows where you are 2nite '
LOVE | |
