Lol. I used to listen to America back in the day and think that it must be ironic. I've come to learn...it wasn't!

What I like about this article/interview is that it just goes to show that Prince is the same interviewee that he's always been. This could have been responses from the 2013 Prince. All of the folks bemoaning the loss of "the way Prince used to be" should look in the mirror and realize maybe they have changed more than Prince Rogers Nelson.

Any knowledgeable fan knows Prince has always been crap at interviews. We've heard the tapes, seen the videos,...

What is different now (especially post-1995) is that back then he had plenty of opposition from his band and managers and record label, whereas these days he surrounds himself by an army of yes men. And thus we end up with $100 tickets for a gig by his shouty back-up "singers" and a "band" that has at least two members who really do not deserve to be in there.

He was probably at his most "revealing" during his 2 rolling stone interviews in 1985 & 1990. Other than that, different times, same old cryptic, reticent, pretentious territory.
