Prince - Anti-Drugs.

if u want a drug, other than the God above...

I've always admired his largely anti-drug/alcohol, etc.. stand in his music. There are a zillion references.. when defending him/discussing him w/ others I always tend to bring up how positive his music tends to be, and anti-drug, etc...

do others feel the same way? Would u feel the same about P if it was well-known that ATWIAD was composed in a drug-induced haze, or that Lovesexy was the result of a long acid trip?

not that i'm an angel or tee-totaller, or that I don't also admire music clearly created under the influence (SGT Peppers, etc...)... but there's something about Prince that seems.. somehow above the rest... because of this. am i making sense...?

I know what you mean, I used to relate a lot to that side of his music.

I do feel though that to preach the ills of drugs, you have to know what you are talking about, and I think Prince's stance comes more from observation that first hand experience.

I think that, like everyone, hes experimented but has never gone all the way down a bad road. I thnk thats a lot of the reason why P is still alive & funking unlike many other artists.
