That way you make some extra money on download sales AND you engage in effective promotion of your shows.

Any artist that feels people are 'stealing' from him when they merely desire to enjoy his music and are willing to compensate him for it, doesn't understand that intellectual property is in reality not anything that you can own, but merely written rules based on an IDEA. Just like music are written notes and words based on an IDEA.

The intellect can only be owned when we agree that it should be owned. But we are free, especially on the internet, to choose otherwise.

Prince fans gladly fork out €100 or more for a show no? Sold out 2 shows in like what, 15 minutes?

Surely, all those fans would also gladly fork out 10 euros more to relive their experience, and many others not able to be there, still get a taste of it.
