NouveauDance said: I wouldn't put those 2 in the ''groundbreaking music'' category. IMO of course.
Nor would I, hence the quotation marks, but the OP thinks they are.
if you dont think kanye west is one of the most influential musician/producer of the last 10 years then your really out of touch with music .
infact kanye west reminds me a lot of prince in the 80's. doing new things and not giving a dam what people think. even promo was he's alot like prince.

Haha i said in my 1st post if it wasnt for prince's live show he would be has been . and i stand by that .
i think whats wrong with prince's new music is prince lives in prince world and noone around him has the balls to tell him his new music sucks , i bet if some did they would be fired on the spot and he's so rich he can just fund everything himself . prince is so out of touch with the common man these days .
It's my impression he's very in touch with his fans at the moment. And feels compassion more than ever.
You'r just rambling nonsense.
And in case you didn't get the memo. That is my job here at the org.
99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%. |

I didn't really think The Love Symbol album was great either, but I have to disagree with most of what you say.
I thought Lotusflow3r was a brilliant album and I loved Musicology too.
I've been revisiting 20ten recently also, and it has really grown on me. Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud |

I think if he would've retired after Lovesexy, he would've been known as one of the greatest artists of all time without recording another note or taking the stage again. Hell, you could probably stop after Purple Rain and his place in the history books would be locked in.

Did you ever read about him in the media?
He is considered top notch.
Not just by delusional, naive fans like me.
He already is in the history books. Don't worry about his fame and good name. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%. |

The problem with your argument or position is that you are presenting these subjective notions as if they are empirical facts. Thus, you are saying that those of us who like/love what he has been doing since 2000 merely just have bad taste because we like something that you don't. You do realize how irrational that sounds, right? I love The Rainbow Children, Musicology, Lotusflow3r/MPLS, and like a great deal 3121 and 20Ten, Planet Earth has a few moments that I really like, and I like/love much of what Prince has produced in 2013. Yet, I also realize that my love/like for this art is just my subjective taste with the understanding that others may not like it. So, what really makes most of these threads so nonsensical and devolve into nothing more than insults is when people try to project their subjective notions as empirical facts. Yes, Prince's post 2000 music sucks to you and a lot of people on this site. But, for a lot of us it doesn't suck. So, that says what? And if you are only still a Prince fan because of his live shows, then why not just spend time discussing that rather than repeating what's been said a million times on this site? I think your discussions about what you like/love would be more productive than another millionth post about how somebody ain't diggnin' Prince no mo'.

Each is entitled to their own taste/opinion...personally, the new shit rocks. The girls have a problem keeping up with him live, but that should fix itself over time. |

I agree. his music is not what it once was. I play the Black album and some boots. Kick ass stuff on them. All My Deams. Wonderful Ass. Witness. We Can Funk... All of them.
It seems to me that he pushed people out that helped influence his music. Not just Revolution era.
Plus he has nothing to fight for. Back then he did. He fought for different things. Now he has his freedom..and thats all he sings about. Gets kinda boring.
There are some good songs from him in the past 10-20 years but nothing close to what he used to do. [Edited 8/27/13 1:47am] Everybody's lookin 4 the ladder, it's in the garage |
