Prince live concerts nowadays aren´t unique anymore What´s up with the live shows these days?
Although Prince & 3rdeyegirl shows seem to be pretty energetic they arent unique anymore.
Looking at the setlists they are pretty predictale and almost the same every nite compared to other tours like ONA, Musicology and 21 nights in London.

Not based on your presence at the concerts.

Montreux 2013 was really bad, Endorphinemachine, Screwdriver, Prince 4Ever.

The 3eg shows r the best since the ona tour. What more can u ask 4. Prince tearing up the guitar and the setlist has varied quite a bit as well.

Judging from the setlist the Paradiso gig wasn't unique, but so what? That's the whole point of touring: bring your music to people from all over the world. And what do you prefer: reading about & listening to the Paard van Troje bootleg or actually being there!? Prince concerts not unique? Good! The more people get to see him, the better! (Oh btw, in 2011 in the Melkweg he played What's My Name. Unique enough for ya?)

Prince setlists always look lacklustre in comparison to the actual show.

Huh, he's had all kinds of songs on his setlists this year and he keeps changing what he plays. The basis for the setlist itself has been completely updated from the "Welcome 2..." tours.

I would love the opportunity to see one of the 3rd Eye Girl shows - flew over & saw 2 at the 02 21 nites & the show at Malahide Dublin and to be honest I am just NOT interested in another 'hits' event, been a fan since 'Controversy' and I would only make an effort for a 'hits' show if it was absolutely no bother - the setlists/arrangements for these new shows are mostly a dream come true
maybe some expect a completely different show each time - highly unlikely by any artist [Edited 8/12/13 9:20am]

Eventhough there were doublures at the two shows at Paradiso, they played it soooo intense, that it did not bother me at all.

Yeah!! Why can't the concerts be like the old days?
Just kidding !! Little? Yeah, right. It might be little but it's loud

When he changed the set list every night with the NPG, people complained that he always played the same songs. Now that he mostly play the same songs night after night with the 3rd Eye Girl, people seems to think the set lists are varied and great. Just look at the set lists. There's a lot less variation with the 3rd Eye Girl tour this year, than with the NPG tour a couple of years ago (in Europe anyway): The wooh is on the one!

Smukfest on the other hand... That one was pretty great... 3rdEyeGirl is still lackluster though... [Edited 8/12/13 11:37am] O(+>NIИ<+)O

Prince really has stripped the uniqueness out of his stage. Whether it is in the name of "real music by real musicians" as Prince claims or saving money on big stage sets/crew since he doesn't have a label as critics have claimed, the heavenly, chaos that was once a Prince show is now lacking. * * 3rdEyeGirl has the personality of a high school garage band. When I saw them in Vegas this year, I more heard Prince than saw him the stage was so dark. Songs from the 3rdEyeGirl project were played, which was more shocking than it maybe should have been, but I really don't like most of these new songs so while I was happy to see a mix up in what was played, I had plenty of opportunities to make a bathroom run if I'd wanted to. * * Prince's shows use to be a spectical. The music was life changing. The stage antics were mind-blowing. The set and the lighting took you to a place you'd not only never been before, but a place that you never knew existed. It was a party and church at the same time. There was an energy that was tangible, seriously, it was like the best sex ever in the history of not the world, the UNIVERSE and the afterglow lasted for WEEKS. * * There was nothing like it. I'm firmly planted in denial

Totally pointless and unfounded criticism. [Edited 8/12/13 14:34pm]

I'd tend to disagree with this assertion....he's generally playing half a dozen or so 'new' songs each night and some off the beaten track older stuff. I've not checked but I'd probably guess the 3EG shows have a repertoire of about 30/40 songs. I also think the comparisons you offer are slightly flawed...the first leg of the ONA tour was pretty much the same set night to night and the Musicology tour was pretty static from show to show. Most artists are going to play essentially the same set night to night on any given tour...that, in itself, doesn't make the performance any less artistically valid! Finally, a show isn't played 'on paper'...9 times out of 10, when Prince hits the stage, the songs come to life.

Your comment feels weird.
And while I'm still glowing afterwards, you tell me;
"No, your orgasms weren't that great. You know, 20 years ago, those orgasms were great. Then sex was something new and exciting. But nowadys, the sex and orgasms you experience, just are not that good anymore."
To me, it was a few hours of divine sex with multiple purple orgasms and my skin is still glowing purple!

Nah it's just personal taste. If you enjoyed the show to that extent then who am I to tell you that you didn't? However, you can't watch the gigs from the 80s and compare these [Snip - luv4u] shows. I'm glad Prince still gives you that pleasure though, not one to piss on somebody else's parade. As for orgasms I had one the other day that was so intense that I wept and was sick in the ashtray. It was because Prince was trying to fuck the taste out of my mouth...the dirty wee bastard! [Edited 8/13/13 4:52am] don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

Ummm, Prince played the same material night in and night out during the One Night Alone tour in North America and apparently, he was dead tired of the setlist of the Musicology tour as it closed.
This 3rdeyegirl tour is peaking my interest and I certainly hope he brings it to Toronto really soon! It would be incredible to see Donna step on stage on her home turf!!!

What's so weird about saying that the wonderful orgasmic, afterglow experience lasted for weeks instead of minutes...hours...days whatever? * * I said nothing of 20 years ago. * * I've been to shows in the 90's. I've been to shows in the '00's and I've been to show's in the last 10 years. The stage show has changed. It's still better than others out there, but it has changed. * * So you had that happen now. Bravo for you. I had it happen in what April in LV. Now imagine it x's 100, because when the spectical full out, that's what it was like. I'm firmly planted in denial
