Why the **** hasnt he released The Breakdown? Seriously!Just heard the full version live from Montreux (gutted I was only at the first night and not the third.. annoying).Anyway, I digress. Why hasnt he released a studio version of this yet?! It sounds like it could be the best thing he has done for a LONG time. Will this ever see the light of day? Come on really we NEED this! ~ "don'tcha wanna see my 'Tootsie Roll?' Baby I'm sho' you would!" ~

Patience young grasshopper… The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

He will. Or he won't. Either way, what a gorgeous song.

Isn't he releasing an album this year? Maybe it will be on it. Just maybe. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I theorize it was slated for The Great Gatsby. The lyrics seem to fit perfectly. I was going to buy that soundtrack for sure. Maybe it will see the light of day someday soon. "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

Because it's just another pathetic ballad that doesn't offer anything musically interesting.
BTW: Still don't get it how people can classify songs like "Breakdown" and "Big City" as brilliant. Strange!

Briliant song. Could be on the new album as 3eg were doing their parts for the song in the studio a few weeks before Montreux. Hopefully its not 2 different from the PA version played at Dakota.

Just listened to a few live renditions. I love it when he sings sad, heavy ballads like this! Release please!

Ballads sell and P has had some great ones. Most RnB artist wish that could write a ballad like "Adore" which just one example. Have you ever watched him perform that song in concert.

Which song? Breakdown or Adore? I've never watched him doing "Breakdown" in concert, but I've listened to some boots. No matter how good he performs that song, its structure and arrangement are not comparable with the creativity of a song like "Adore" by any means.

Adore. I have not heard the breakdown but I am going to seek it out to see if it is anything like Adore.

It's not even close. I like The Breakdown a lot, but there's no comparison.

I was at the 3rd show, and I was really hoping that he'd do it. It was the main song I was hoping to hear actually. I'm not sure how things compared to the other nights, but he seemed to be having a lot of fun. Aside from "The Breakdown", I was most excited about his rendition of "The Love We Make". One of my absolute favorite songs, and it was the first time I'd ever heard it live. Truly a memorable experience.

I think you were definatly at the best show of the 3!
The last show was what I wanted to see.. The first was still great and very funky but he didnt pick one instrument up throughout the entire gig which to be honest left me a little dissapointed..
Still very cool though ~ "don'tcha wanna see my 'Tootsie Roll?' Baby I'm sho' you would!" ~

Perhaps he saves this song for the new album and doesn't want it to be a digital download.
