New music app SoundHalo to revolutionise live events Just reading in Sydney's Daily Telegraph about a new app launching called "SoundHalo", which allows fans to download either single tracks or an entire concert, while at the live event. Price examples quoted single tracks as around $1.60 or a full concert at $16. Such an app would be perfect for Prince's shows, if he embraced the technology. Sadly, I suspect we won't be getting the royal thumbs up for this interesting new app anytime soon.

I strongly doubt that Prince would ever allow his concerts to be downloaded piecemeal. He seems to be a pretty firm believer that a concert is best experienced whole.
I suppose that could change - but I'd be very surprised. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

Exept when he slashes them to bits and releases them in box sets. |

I still think the Rainbow Children and ONA were his way of meeting a financial obligation to the JWs.

Prince isn't quite as hip as he thinks he is.
I remember a company back around 1999 that did exactly the same thing, only with physical discs. They were pressed to order and available at the end of each given show. The name of the company escapes me now, but they did really well in America for some time - Pearl Jam got on board with them and recorded every single show of their 2000-20001 worldwide tour. Fans lapped it up.
I have no idea if the company are still around, or indeed pushed into digital distribution, but this certainly isn't "new" by any means. |
