I was watching a dvd today & wondered why was this phenomenal line-up was disbanded so quickly. I mean 98% of this unit stayed on board with only Sheila & Cat going in a different direction without P. Every line-up was/is great in they're own way!!!!

Boni Boyer left 4 Australia (She was originally performing with Sheila E for the 3rd album) I think there were difficulties she had with Prince. She died a few years later

Cat left because she felt she was being put into compromising situations by Prince (being told to fire someone) and a few other things

Sheila had back surgery from the Lovesexy tour playing drums in heals for 2 years, She also had a lung collapse. And a disagreement on the direction of her 4th album. But she was still off and on friends with Prince.

Eric Leeds & Atlanta Bliss weren't in the band either after Lovesexy, and I don't know much of what happened to them. They were on the GBridge soundtrack on some songs along with Boni & Sheila but that's because those songs were recorded during the Lovesexy period like Elephants & Flowers.

Dr Fink was gone after the Nude tour

Mico was gone after the Nude tour

Levi stayed into the Love Symbol/Come period (band)

Wally Safford & Gregory Brooks removed after SOTT

Most of the people in this band were in Prince's camp from 1984-1986 years also. Of course Dr Fink from 1977/78

the Lovesexy band was technically supposed to be the GBridge band, which means that would have somehow been a 3rd album period with them.

Those were probably his best shows. Great mix of horns, themes, material. I think he reached his creative and performance peak with the Lovesexy album and show.

There are a lot of stories about how The Revolution was disbanded, but I've never really heard about the letting go of the SOTT/Lovesexy band. I know Sheila was slated to release another solo album and left Prince's camp over disagreements about her career, but what about the rest of the band members? Were they fired, or did most of them just move on? Levi and Eric stayed on, but when did Boni and Cat officially leave? Please share your stories if you know them.
