Any Prince Vinyl Collectors Here? I'm new to collecting Prince Vinyls and I just found and bought the black album at a record store. I heard that the one I got now isn't real because it has a hidden Prince Silhouette if you look very close in the black cover. Does anyone know anything about this? Also what is in everyone's collection as far as Vinyls? My other question is does anyone have or even know if there is Vinyl album releases for Musicology, 3121, Gold Experience, or 20ten So far I got: Sign O The Times Purple Rain Around the World in A Day Parade 1999 Dirty Mind Controversy Thieves in the Temple Purple Rain Single with Purple Vinyl The Beautiful Experience Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic LotusFlo3er/MPLSound

Nice little collection there. I have a small vinyl collection as well as his (mostly) full discography collection on CD. My most prized prince possessions are The Gold Exp Gold Vinyl, and my Parade Era vinyl collection with all the singles. (Parade is by far my favorite era)
At the moment I'm looking for the peach marbled Black Album that's NOT overpriced, and the Just as long as we're together b/w Soft and Wet single with the old school WB palm trees. As far as your question that link Fragile gave you will help [Edited 7/18/13 21:05pm]

Thanks Everyone for answering. This helped me out a ton. I found the Official Like New 'Black Album' online now. It's a promo one and WB and had it checked against the bootlegs before buying so feel better about that now.

I agree with RoedoSchro, being older has it's bennefits. I have all vinyl from For You to Batman including all 45's with b sides, long play dance mixes etc, and all related artisit including but not limited to The Time, Vanity, Jesse, Morris, Madhouse, Jill Jones, The Family etc. I sometimes wonder how we were able to find and learn about all these releases back the without the internet. Oh ya, we visited the wrecka stow every week. Shut up already...Damn

oh yes! I used to pre-order the 12inches a couple of weeks ahead at our small town record shops to insure I would have it in my hands on release day! I have all of the albums from For You-Lovesexy. I have all of the 12inches from Controversy-Diamonds & Pearls. And most of the singles from ATWIAD-Graffitti Bridge. And many of the associated albums & 12inches which are alot of fun to have. My stereo is pretty sick nowadays so spinning the records always yeilds a good sonic relish "Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"

I found near mint copies of For You and the first Time album today. The Time in particular sounds fantastic, much better than my CD copy.

Love my Prince vinyl. I also have all Prince WB vinyls in perfect condition unused (It's my spare set.). 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Totally, and you can imagine how it would have blown a new fans mind back in 1981. The Grooves just leap off that record. Its pretty much the best thing in vinyl collection (Although my flawless copy of Scandalous 12 inch must be up there too. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I am crossing my fingers for more vinyl reissues. The sound on these are simply amazing. I would rather have these than the CD remasters.

Thanks to this thread & this post I did a little sniffin' around the Internets today & landed a sealed copy of What Time Is It!! My old one from the 80's is all scratched to shit so I'm psyched!! "Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"

It's taken many years to collect all those records. If, and that's a big IF, I ever sold them, I'd want to sell them as a collection. I wouldn't take less than $2,000. Just saying LOL I thank you for the compliments but believe it or not I'm not even close to having all the 12" singles I know of out there. Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Yes I would agree, yours is probably the best I have seen owned by one person though. And I know what you mean, Warner had issuing subsidiaries all over the world, because of different agreements in different nations, like in Australia and New Zealand, although under the Warner label, items were issued under WEA here (Warner Electra Atlantic I think) and after 1992, it became BMG Ariola or Sony only.
I also notice certain singles and albums often had different covers and images and even different songs and single releases (Gotta Stop Messin about was never released as a single in the USA) and especially with early singles like I wanna be your lover and 1999.
I have a German pressing of 1999/Lets Pretend were married that has "New Black Funk" over it, which was Germany and France only. Even if you have the same covers and labels, the records were made in pressing plants all over the world, imagine collecting all the Turkish and Cypriot pressings for instance? Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Its interesting you joke about putting a prize tag on all your collection. I would LOVE to sell all mine in one go, as I rarely get to see it nowadays. And to sell it in bits would be chaotic! . 10-15 years ago, I would've put a prize tag of around $10,000 for the entire collection, but now I'd say less than half of that. . I gave up collecting vinyl around 2000 as they stopped making them locally, and the imported copies were so expensive and limited. But more importantly the music on them wasn't worth the money. . . . Someone mentioned earlier that it was amazing we were able to find stuff without the internet back then. Well back then we had the monthly issue of Record Collector and Goldmine magazine. We'd make internatuional calls and then send cash in well concealed envelopes AND PRAY that you got something in return. . Luckly for me, I only ever had a run-in with one arsehole in the UK, that ripped me off, but overall it was fun and exciting times.
