Still don't know why he closed down the NPGMC, it was really good!

Effort.

I thought he closed it down due to it being Mani's project and when they got divorced, it suffered the consequences.

yeah, the npgms was a good thing. they ahdio shows were so cool.

an hour's worth of music, a lot of which we already owned but still,

i enjoyed those a lot and sometimes still listen to them. it's like i'm

listening to radio, when radio still played actual songs

lol

the club did have it's minor downsides too though. in effect, he did

release 2 albums worth of material but after "splash" there was no

more prime era outtakes. except "rebirth" which was only a really

annoying rehearsal. and a lot of the other tracks that were not on

chocolate invasion/slaughterhouse later were already circulating in

good quality (although i'm sure prince did so on purpose just to let

us know how we spoiled our own fun for buying bootlegs). but that

is just nitpicking, the club was nice, especially since there would be

new music every month.

music

in a way, 2013 so far has been the closest thing we've had to this

concept since the npgmc closed. there has been something new a

whole lot of times (more than once a month) and since they begun

streaming music from paisley park it's like the ahdioshows are also

back in a stripped down way (although more new music in these).

it's not as structured as the npgmc in that nothing is promised 'till

it is actually released. but that's what people complained about in

his previous web ventures: promises, payments and no delivery.

this time around stuff just shows up constantly all over the place,

some of it completely free, some of it for sale. 2013, think of the

music what you will, is -at least to me- so far finallly something BIG

that came. and we're only halfway through biggrin

nod

I agree that it's the closest we've had since. The major difference is why I'm still not quite ready to say it's big, yet--the uncertainty. I'm not sure there will be another livestream. I'm not sure something else will be posted on 3rd Eye. It could all just end. While obviously the NPGMC could (and ultimately did) end unexpectedly, I hadn't had quite enough experience with Prince to expect the unexpected when it came to business and not music.

And if it did all end, well--that would be too bad. But I'm only out--what, maybe $20 so far? I'd say I've gotten more than that.
