I was talking with some friends the other day and they all tried to tell me that Purple Rain was Prince's best song. I agree that its a pretty good song but I wouldn't go as far to saying it's his best. Does anyone else feel this way?

Um sure Purple Rain was f#cing bomb...but I would die 4 u is clearly the best in my opinion.

I agree. SOTT, imo, is his best album. It's a lot of songs on there that can top 'Purple Rain as his best song.

can't name all of my fav songs of him (its just too many).. but if only pick one, i'd pick eye hate u (the gold experience) at the moment..

i think many ppl think purple rain is the best cuz of the movie influence..

That would be my second right under Anna Stesia. That guitar solo is so raw and emotional.

When I listened to the peach and black top 20 song poll I was dissapointed how 84-88 centric it was. Sure it was great period, but his catalogue is so much broader. I was surprised that "hardcore" fans voted for the obvious or those oldies that get regular live airings.
