Any updates on this?

FRom a PIAS month's representative this last days > An album was due for release this september but the plan has fully changed with Prince > New material on the way + reworked version of some tunes from the cancelled album 3rdeyegirls project ...the representative said maybe something to be released somewhere this Fall>December of this year or ....pushed back to an unkown date!

Bwahahahahahaha.

So it's business as usual, then. Hey, remeber when Prince boasted about being able to record something today and release it tomorrow? Remember when he bitched about record companies taking ages and that he had moved on by the time something got released?

Typical Prince with schedules... mad

Remember how, in the olden days, we had no idea what Prince's schedule was? An album would appear and you'd get excited then - in the moment?

Maybe a little distance would be beneficial. There's something to be said for not knowing too much. shrug

BS. Albums always got announced weeks in advance. Got delivered to radio a week or sometimes more before release. I had taped most of D&P from a radio broadcast at least a week before release, for instance. SOTT or Lovesexy leaked before the official release premier because there was a misprint and someone who bought an album by one artist discovered that the CD actually contained th enew Prince album.

BS. That might have been the case if you lived in New York or LA - but those things did not happen outside of major markets (which would be most of the US).

Mark down the date AUGUST 6, 2013 in big red letters because I am going to agree with Bart Van Hemelen.

At least, I am going to agree that almost every other artist seems to be able to put out word of an upcoming album and then deliver on or about the promised date.

Honestly, the only other example I can think of "Hey, we have a new album coming out on this date...no, on this date...no, on this date...ad infinitum" is Guns 'N Rose's "Chinese Democracy" album. Oh - and D'Angelo. He's about as bad as Prince in this regard.

I also agree with Genesia to the extent that it was better when we had no word, and thus were surprised/elated when a new album dropped.

I wish Prince would never, ever say anything again about the "possibility" of a new album, tour, website, or anything else. I really am starting to discount anything he says about future plans, because they almost never, ever come to fruition.

.

Not exactly true. KLOL here in Houston used to play new albums the week before they were released - every single week. They'd get them from the record companies, and play them at midnight on Wednesday or Thursday of the week before release.

I remember studying late one night and KLOL spun an album that blew me away. I went right down to the record store the next morning and said, "Do you have that new album by some group called Von Holland or something like that?"

They said, "They are called Van Halen, and their album will be here next Tuesday".

Houston is a major market (and was even in the 80s).

LOL, but how about the '70's? As it turns out, the first VH album was released on my 19th birthday - February 10, 1978!

Even tough I feel relived that there wont be a 3rdEyeGirl feat Prince album (cuz I prefer a solo album by Prince) Im still disappointed cuz there was such a hype around this whole project/album and then he just cancel it. But I think the main reason is the bad response this 3deyegirl project got from fans. I think hes listening.

Courtney Love said she is releasing something "after Prince" on the same label, and I am assuming she means this Kobalt imprint.

That project would have been dead on arrival and Prince knows it.

Maybe so, but it dovetails with what Dr. Funkenberry has been saying: that the mostly-instrumental 3rdeyegirl album has been scrapped and Prince has started over from scratch similar to what Beyonce has just done http://www.hollywoodrepor...bum-590765 (for those who say "other artists don't do this sort of thing") and that the new project won't be out anytime soon: https://twitter.com/drfun...9094642688.

So we almost got a new album and we may still get it later this year. I also read that Superconductor will be reloaded with tracks added. Any info on that?

And i like the raw sound of 3rdeyegirl more than what we got on say 20TEN

I'm really looking forward to the release. Funny, just like the 80's, I remain as excited and supportive as ever for new Prince releases.

so did we get most of the 'original' (instrumental) 3rdEyeGirl project

through the live streams?

Midnight Blues

Menstrual Cycle

Octopus Heart

Moondrops

Plectrum Electrum

Hidden Colors

if there were 2 songs with prince on vocals and "fixurlifeup" was on

it, plus perhaps "LOL" then that would be a pretty bad album lol

so i'm glad they've scrapped it in favor of something different with

vocals, hopefully.

Working for a record store makes you a reliable source, huh? I don't think so. It's still just hearsay on a message board. Your track record doesn't help my skepticism either.
