I love these interviews 'cause I can just see him there making these reporters squirm before they ask a question And they know the answer to most of them, they just wanna see him react... it's funny, but good for P... always steady, always cool...

I really hope he plays Interlochen with this band in September (Va.) that would be quite the show w/ Neil Young and Furthur and The Black Crows... Derk Trucks... some incredible guitarist in one place!

That interview basically confirms what I think about him. He adopts whatever the people around him push forward and gets angry when outside forces challenge the script he's using...

Basically, 3rdEyegirl is like a master class in music. If you are a ballerina and you get to study with the best dance master on the planet, you are going to be told what to do and you'll be more or less gently reprimanded for different flaws -- but that doesn't make you a child, it makes you a learner, a student, an apprentice.

For these musicians, it seems there is some collaborative thing going on and if they are able to do that all the while being drilled to play a 40 song songbook with multiple possible changes, I'd say that's pretty good no matter the alleged horrors of working for the Man.

As for him asserting Donna can stand her own against any guy bar none, he's probably not talking about the pantheon of the greatest guitarists ever, but what other guitarists, male or female, he could have hired for this tour. I don't think he's actually saying Donna is just as good a guitarist as he is, that seems obvious to me.

Interesting interview, seriously doubt that Prince does not own a mobile phone, just must not be an i-phone. Just wish we could have watched the interview, just to really get the tone of what was serious and what was not.

Wonder why Andy wasn't mentioned as an artist he listens to, surely you would always push for those on your own label??

Talking to Prince a journalist always seems to be playing a new videogame level. You don't know what to expect and the first attempt mostly will not bring all you could get out of it.

He fences so much with words and semantics and because it is not on the same level you can hardly respond. Because there is always a change he will get up and walk away.

I am not a fan of the fro or Prince trying to be anyone but Prince. He doesn't age so face looks great but I really wish he would get rid of the from. 3rdeyegirl as a band can play but is Prince their lead singer? Why does he keep shouting out Julia? I always think about the jokes of him talk through people and he confirms it in this article. Are you saying the only person you trust is Julia. You should talk to the people who work for you. I have seen that band and they go in and you can't even talk to them directly. Nothing about tht is right. A real Boss can speak to anyone.
