Was Prince involved with the recording of TC Ellis' Girl Of My dreams and Bambi???

As far as we know, these 2 songs were recorded entirely by Levi Seacer, Jr. and TC Ellis without any Prince involvement (save composing the songs of course) and they actually don't sound like Prince arranged or played on them. But now look at what TC recently said on his (great) Dyes interview (http://beautifulnightschi...lks-2.html):

"Really, I like all the songs, they just weren't produced in the manner that I would have liked—except for “Girl o' my Dreams” and “Bambi (Rap).” Those were Prince's songs and they were produced the way they should have been, because, he was involved with it. He did it and he knew what he was trying to do. I was really the “voice.”"

I wish someone could clear this.

Read the interview, it's quite informative regarding how this album was done and why it wasn't what TC wanted it to be.

I have to admit that I'm among the happy fews to really dig that album, always have and it's been 22 years, but that doesn't answer my question either anyway lol

You could ask him directly or ask Dye if she can send you the full transcript. I would safely say he was heavily involved on those two tracks, they sound a lot like him, he was also responsible for the highlight, Miss Thang too. Why would he lie about this? Usually people do it the other way and make out they did it all themselves, so he doesn't really have a motive. I would take what he says on trust and put it in yo' databank!

Does anyone notice the scratching effect on the drum intro to Bambi (Rap) was later adopted into the NPG live version with Michael B doing the scratch as a drumfill.

I own a 12 inch vinyl..

T.C. Ellis "Miss Thang" (the title of the track is afai remember it right)..

I used to really like this song, one of the 12" remixes contains a sampled beat from the Sign O The Times song..

Yeah I used to like this a lot..

Same here. Tony M is a saint compared to this. I had already forgotten the damn record even existed.

He underestimates the genre, doesn't really get it, so there are few good examples of Prince and rapping. If a Girl Answers is probably as good as it gets in that department, or Release It, Dead On It. Questlove could definitely school him, he'd definitely benefit as an artist by delving a little deeper into rap music.
