Yeah Dr. F said it was going to be an instumental with Prince on vocals for one track and Hannah on vocals for another.

I think that was a while ago... plans change... who knows?

Pure speculation, but it would be a shame if only the 3rd Eye Girl material got an official release and the R&B tracks he's been putting out didn't get an official CD release. Then again, the 3rd Eye material does sound a little more contemporary, so maybe that would be the best move for the masses.

I'd love an instrumental CD - since recent lyrics have been nothing to write home about. (No pun intended.)

Only hard core fans will buy an instrumental album so he should release that trough 3rdEyeGirl.com and a Prince album (with all the other tracks like 2Y2D, Screwdriver etc) trough kobalt.

it seems like theres a strong possibility that 2 albums are coming out, a 3rdeyegirl album and a Prince featuring 3rdeyegirl album. The only track featuring Prince on vocals on the 3rdeyegirl album that doc was referring is as we know "Fixurlifeup". So that means the Breakdown could very well end up on another album..

"Hard core fans" are usually the ones that either want him to rehash the '80s, reunite with The Revolution, and/or change his hair.

However, if you mean "hard core fans" such as myself, that would mean long-time fans that also are musicians, and have wide, diverse tastes in music including songs with vocals and instrumental pieces in many different genres.

I adore 'N.E.W.S.', 'Xpectation', and 'C-Note'. So as you downplay an instrumental album as only being worthy enough of a 3rdEyeGirl.com download, there are music and audio nuts such as myself who want a quality release.

Just sayin'.

Same here. I download to preview an album, but I buy cds, too.

I hope the new P project is available through a regular channel. I don't want to have to order from the UK, China or anywhere else. Sell it to me in the USA please.

Gray, you don't have to guess. You are hard core.

But Genesia is saying that only his fans buy his albums, while you respond with the fact that you prefer physical album releases, which you KNOW I do too.

Genesia does have a valid point though... I don't personally know anyone that buys Prince's albums. I know I do, you do, and Genesia does, but we're all hard core.

maybe there'll only be a 3rd Eye Girl feat Prince album: "plectrum electrum",

which, yesterday, the doc said would be almost all instrumental.

and then there's the "Prince" songs that will be released by and by through

the 3rdEyeGirl website, much as they have been up until now.

seriously, I can't really see "rock n roll love affair" or "screwdriver" being on

a new album anymore since they're quite old by now (they're only recent, I

know, but in prince-land they're ancient).

coupled with "breakfast can wait", "ain't gonna miss U", "extraloveable" etc,

we've got more than half an album's worth of songs already.

I'd still love to get a new prince album all at once since it's so nice to listen

to a bunch of new songs all at once.

but with occasional releases through the website, i'm guessing we get more

than an album's worth of tracks, and that's just fine with me lol

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

titles of the new instrumentals on the 3rdEyeGirl album, could they be :

- Mentrual Cycle

- Moon Drops

- Octopus Heart

- Big City

together with the known;

- Plectrum Electrum

- Fixurlifeup

- Live Out Loud (with Hanah on vox)

...

Please get over yourself. Being a musican has nothing to do with your taste in music.

And what on earth will you do if this ends up as a download-only release?

Oh please. I've been "over myself" for years now... you simply don't know me, unfortunately. Now let me explain why I included that seemingly insignificant detail... I also play several instruments, and have many of the same diverse musical influences as Prince, although I am a bit younger. It is indeed pertinent to the discussion of instrumental music. Believe it or not.

Wait. You actually said that being a musician has nothing to do with one's taste in music?? I beg to differ. I just beg.

I'm sure it doesn't. Not to turn this into a pissing contest, but I don't have any musical talent worth speaking of, yet I guarantee my tastes are just as diverse and sophisticated as yours, if not moreso.

The ablity to create music of your own has no bearing on your faculty for appreciating and understanding music or your appetite for seeking out new and interesting stuff.

Okay, then I must say that I didn't mean to imply that being a musician is a requirement in any way... There are countless music lovers that have plenty of taste. That is why so many musical greats have appreciation from more than just the music community.

Since it seems at this point if there is a physical release (for P and/or 3rd Eye) that it would be via Kobalt, they have a global network of physical distribution partners including Alliance Entertainment in the U.S. (the Nick Cave was even issued on vinyl).

Alliance recently had a conference where at least one attendee tweeted that the 3rdeyegirl release was promoted during a Kobalt Music presentation:

I know several people that still buy prince's stuff but they pretty much rely on me 2 tell them when it is available. They seem 2 not even know there is anything new out otherwise.
