I think it just depends on what sort of person you are. His songs have made me cry plenty of times, for various reasons. But some people just aren't inclined to cry easily, I guess.

- Another lonely christmas - i was alone for xmas 2002, i should never of played this. "oh baby! Last night, i spent another...lonely christmas

- When doves cry - played this on my personal cd player the night i spoke to my parents for the last time.

- the solo on Purple rain on the lovesexy live video. - just look at that mans face as he plays his heart out. it looks as if his soul is gonna come tearing through his throat! so beautiful

There are many songs by Prince that stir deep emotion, but not enough emotion to have me blubbering.

His passion is beautiful, but not enough to make me weep.

Peace,

Good point. When I was much younger, I did have a tear at the end of Rainman. When he's leaving on the train...

It's about a Man coping with the death of his wife in childbirth. Where he's now got to bring the child up without her.

Yeah, I know!
It's not that obvious from the lyrics,

Yeah Man! I hear ya!
were you in the NPGMC in 2001 when we were downloading audio shows?
To me the Month of September had the most powerful audio show.
When he sings the full virsion of 'Space', I cry, I feel what he is saying so deeply.
Ya know...

"The man that they accuse me of being of, that's not the one I really am.
I AM THE ONE WHO REALLY LOVES YOU, WITH ALL MY MIND, BODY,AND SOUL, with every stroke of my brush I'm gonna paint a wall around you so that you will never, ever know all the pain that a human has to go through, in a planet that's so bitter and cold, UNIVERSAL LOVE AWAITS YOU BABY ALL YOU GOTTA SAY IS THAT YOU REALLY, REALLY REALLY WANNA GO- AND WERE OUTTA HERE!

That gets me every time...

Does this get anyone elses emotions stirred?

This might sound cold but as much as I like the Universal Love remix of Space, I don't actually find those lyrics you mention, his vocal delivery of them or the music, particuarly tearful.

Oh!!! I thought you were a girl!

Anyway - Purple Rain gives me a lump in my throat. I get goosebumps whenever I hear the first strum of the guitar. I don't really know why either... It just sounds sad.

Lots of Prince songs make me cry. The first time I ever heard Sometimes It Snows In April, I cried. I cried because it was just so sad to me. The other songs that make me cry have made me cry because of down periods in my life. Anna Stesia made me cry because of my past dealings with lonliness, feelings of low self-esteem and my constant battle to not be bisexual/lesbian. It has made cry all over again, when in concert, Prince spoke of the people he has lost. Since that song came out, I have lost my mother to suicide and my nephew to cancer. Still Will Stand All Time covered a period where I was feeling like I couldn't go on. When Prince remade I Can't Make You Love, I cried again. I was in a one-sided relationship and decided to give up. It all boils down to relating to someone you feel has gone through what you're going through.

The Holy River made me cry several times.

Lying down, lights low, headphones on.

I've also cried when Christopher gets shot in Under The Cherry Moon. I was drunk though sitting with a good friend at home, late night. I didn't even expect it.

The Who - "Blue Eyes" is the only other song that has made me misty. It was first, then The Holy River.

I find this somewhat shocking. It sounds like you can't believe it either. I don't mean to be rude but did you manage to chuckle afterwards, with your friend?

Your not being Rude, when I was sitting there with my face wet with tears it crossed my mind, "what the hell is wrong with me? My friend didn't even mention it to me. We were sitting in separate chairs and the lights were off. Only the TV light in the room. It was just tears running, no wimpers~ I just wipped my face with my hand and continued to drink more beer. We have a very honest relationship. He respects me enough to not say anything. He knows I Love Prince. Does anyone else think that part of UTCM sad?

I must confess I never found that particular scene move me, however your description of how the room was dark, and that your friend just kept quiet is very touching.

I don't think I will want to visit this site when Prince passes away. It will probably be too much...

Oops ~ Trying to figure out this reply with quote feature.
Anji - That reply was really nice. When you have a friendship like that, its for Life. If a friend does not cut you some slack now and then, the friendship won't last. If you have something special then don't argue with it.

I love and appreciate Princes music, no matter how weird he gets. My heart sank when you mentioned the d word.
I don't have any other artist I think as much of as Prince. And I would'nt want it any other way.
