Prince and Cussing

Does anybody know either the last recording or performance at a concert where Prince actually cussed? And I'm not talking about anything recent where he may have slipped up biggrin , I mean from the point in time in which he decided to actually stop cussing all together. There had to have been that 1 last concert where he said "Play that Muthafuckin Bass!"

slowly throughout late 97 to early 98 he stopped. Sexy MF is a good example of this, listen to a version from the early 98 tours, eg paisley park april 98 and in the lead line he doesnt do the main line "you sexy mother fucker", instead telling the crowd "dont say it dont say it yo'll!"

in 2001 he accidently swore on one of the hit n run shows saying "dont act like you know my shit" to the crowd when they cheered at the start of I Wanna Be Ur Lover. Old habbits die slow haha

S&M Groove is probably the last known studio recording contain swearing. From 1997. It was edited for release in 2001.

That doesn't make much sense considering the subject matter of the song.

I am sure some of the jams on the unreleased "High" would have originally had cursing on them like "My Medallion" and "High". This album was supposed to have come out in 2000 or thereabouts. The versions I have are full of slang and ebonics, but earlier versions may have had the f word in them.

The liberal swearing in public kind of dies off with the Emancipation era, songs like Da Da Da and Face down have a lot of swearing in them.

Also the Truth which was released in 1998, has the word Mortherfucker in it scattered through it, especially in "Don't play me". But it seems he recorded it in late 1996, pre Larry Graham.

It was right after Emancipation came out in 1996. Cuz the album version of Face Down has plenty of f-words, then the remix has them all replaced.

He still does it though, he just doesn't say the actual words themselves. The thought is the same. What's the difference between saying "You can go to... you know the rest" and "You can go to hell"? Am I any more or less truthful if Prince calls me "full of Shhh" or "full of shit"?

Fair enough, i guess it would be around the Rave tour 1999 - 2000 for the last swear word then.
