My mum got tickets for the london gig, would of been my first P concert "We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

In the Sign Of The Times Concer Film..... Did you ever notice that at the end of a song and Prince say's "Thank You!," the crowd responds
I also noticed this is a few other/later concert clips...like it was overdubbed in after the fact.....

Just wanted to say what a brilliant review this is...acknowledging the brilliance of the music but framing it in terms of the career. Could the impact have been even greater? It made me think about it in a different way...thanks for posting, much appreciated.

Awesome. I have to wonder how upon listening to this for the first time the impact it would have on people. And as good as a review that Kurt gave the album, it still heartbreaking to see him limit his praise and say that Prince could do better, and now 25 years later see that it was pinacle and the end of an era that he would never even come close to topping it. What a view Kurt had from the top of an artistic avalanche and still want more.

I was there and i got it on the day it was released.. I think at the time Prince was releasing so much music (an album and tour and or a movie!!! a year) That people didnt really understand or rather they couldn't grasp how deep his well was because it seemed endless... compared to Purple rain with when doves cry, lets go crazy ect.. and the single "Kiss" the year before- there wasn't much on Sign o the times that seemed to be as immediate and radio friendly.. although the song Sign o the times was big on radio at the time.. fans appreciated the diversity but, i think critics were just too overwhelmed after having to review yet another great collection of Prince music.. he was on fire back then.. people thought he didnt eat or sleep!!!! There was a feeling growing that he was releasing too much stuff... some great some not. I think as i said before, nobody could predict the days where he would be fighting with WB and releasing crap.. and ultimately kinda just coasting instead of leading the music world.
