Screwdriver and LOL were mostly teasers for fans only, while FULU is aimed at a wider audience (iTunes, Youtube, possibly sent to TV channels as well?).

Screwdriver, I think, would have been the best lead mainstream 3rdEyeGirl single. It's got a catchy melody, it's fresh, dynamic, kind of like Peach was 20 years ago, and the first (lyrics) video was great.

Live Out Loud is intriguing: it almost doesn't sound like a Prince song at all, but for that reason I think it could have been attractive to people who usually don't like Prince so much. The melody is catchy as well, there's a very strong atmosphere to the song and the lyrics are kinda cool. Only thing: the video sucks hard!

FixUrLifeUp: I like it OK but I don't find the melody to be that catchy, and it's a bit too short. It's a bit melodramatic too, I think of the 3 it's the one that'll have the hardest time to appeal to the non-fans audience. Good thing, though, it's got a great video.

So I'd have chosen Screwdriver, definitely, I think this one had the potential to be a minor hit. FULU woulda been my last choice.

What do you think? And does FULU have any kind of radio or TV exposure in your country?

I'm totally with u. I think "Screwdriver" has so much potential. I know people that hadn't followed P since "Musicology" that know and like it. I think the Fallon appearance did it justice. I just wish he would have done more performances on different shows.

Is Screwdriver even a Pletrum Electrum track? Listed as by Prince on iTunes, whereas Fixurlifeup is listed as 3rdEyeGirl ft Prince. If Screwdriver was on Plectrum, wouldn't it also be listed under 3rdeye?

The lyrics video was also credited to Prince but basically it's a 3rdEyeGirl track (line-upwise). I assume P is gonna change the artist's name and include it on PE (like he did with the 2001 NPG songs that ended-up being Prince songs on TCI and TS in 2004), but maybe I'm wrong of course.

LOL and FixUrLifeUp are beyond weak. The whole point of a lead single is to appeal to the masses, and I don't think either of those 2 songs will do it. Screwdrvier is alright except for the chorus. "I'm your driver and your my screw" will never be taken seriously by the masses....EVER. If prince wanted to sell some records/promote the new album with casual fans, he should release 'Let's Go Crazy Reloaded'

It's a song people know and it's a cool version. It would get prince back on people's radar again (the average person doesn't know what he's been up to since the Superbowl performance).

Most people consider that one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) Superbowl Halftime performances of all time. The stage made a huge impact, he looked great and incorporated cover songs into his act that the general public would recognize. The version of Purple Rain was really cool (IN the rain, no less). I still get goosebumps sometimes watching it.

My only gripe is that it was followed up by the album Planet Earth. So much publicity and momentum squashed by one of the weakest albums in his career.

Fixurliefup might be the first single. I doubt Screwdriver is on the CD. They said Prince only had lead vocals on two tracks and doubtful they'd put those both out before the CD drops. It would be giving the masses both Prince tracks without buying the entire project. LOL is likely to be on there though.

We only have really guesses as to how the Albums/Groups will be released. I think different production or mix on LOL would be a decent single. It seems like in the past Prince hasn't shied away from trying to appeal to different groups. There was that one remark about "Getting that Duran Duran money."

I have the same opinion of the glorification of soccer in France, if that can help clarifying my thoughts. It's not America I am talking about, it's that whole circus, anywhere in the world. Sports is a cool thing in itself but too often it gets to be associated with the most vulgar things in our Western societies, and it's a pity, no food for thoughts, really. Of all Prince's TV performances (and I've seen them all), how come this is the one I like the less? I haven't been to America but I'd love to: my favorite musicians are from the USA, my favorite directors are from the USA, many of my favorite writers are from America, I feel closer to the american culture that I do from, say, Sweden or Portugal of which I know almost nothing of by comparison, America is not the issue, the Superbowl per4mance is

I think the superbowl performance suffered from Prince being in a sort of awkward stage both sound and set list wise. If he performed the superbowl around the time of W2A I think it would have been a lot better received. A set list featuring "Cool" would have been better IMO

Databank, you turned it into European point of view about how class less America is, you can't expect people to not get upset about that. I mean, I could say Europeans have terrible taste because they drink Fanta and like David Hasselhoff, but that's obviously only reflective of a small group of people (I hope at least, fanta is beyond nasty).

The Superbowl performance had nothing to do with the taste of the American redneck, that was PRINCE picking a set list and a style he thought would appeal to a football audience (and it sort of worked, or fell flat on it's face depending on who you're talking to). The Superbowl halftime show usually sucks, so a case could be made that Prince really was the best Superbowl halftime show ever. But I think most of the people here who are complaining, are complaining because they KNOW Prince can do better
