There's no "worst" song to me, the DM album is such a masterpiece.. BUT if I had to rate the songs then your try is not that bad.. the Dirty Mind album ->>> Prince 4Ever.

I always felt this album has 4 standout songs: When You Were Mine Uptown (which sums up Prince's worldview at that time) Head Dirty Mind The other 4 are okay, but not really special. These were still Prince's learning years. Still a very important album. And it has a rawness and energy that you don't find on his later albums.

All the songs are great and this an essential classic, but if you insist.
1. Uptown 10/10 2. Dirty Mind 10/10 3. When U were Mine 10/10 4. Partyup 10/10 5. Head 9/10 6. Do it all night 9/10 7. Gotta a broken heart again 8/10 8. Sister 8/10 - Its still great, no stinkers here.
I think everyone by now knows I love the shit out of this album, no skippable tracks and I could just listen to it an endless loop. I hope God has Dirty Mind on the hifi when I get to heaven. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

1. When U Were Mine 2. Dirty Mind 3. Uptown 4. Head 5. Gotta Broken Heart Again 6. Do It All Night 7. Sister 8. Partyup
I was never quite as big on Dirty Mind as most Prince fans. I was born in 1980, so I came across this album in the early 90s after I became a fan of Prince and started working backwards through his catalog.
Maybe it was because of gangsta rap (prevalent by the time I first listened to Dirty Mind), but even at age 12 or 13 I was pretty indifferent to the shock-value aspect. Not offended, but just not particularly interested in it.
When U Were Mine grew on me, and I think it's a near-great P song. Dirty Mind and Uptown are almost a good imo, and it's interesting how much of Dirty Mind is in (ripped off in?) Van Halen's massive hit Jump. I often find myself singing Dirty Mind in my head along with the music whenever I hear Jump.
Head, Gotta Broken Heart Again, and Do It All Night are all perfectly good, respectable songs imo, but they're not top-tier Prince. Sister is a bit gimmicky... but what the hell. The only song on the album I don't really like is Partyup (that chant at the end makes me cringe, and rest of the song feels like a throwaway to me).
If this sounds negative, don't get me wrong, I dig the album. If it was by some random new artist, I would be crazy excited about that artist's potential... but I'm just not super-high on it compared to P's best work. Honestly, I feel like 1999, Purple Rain, SOTT, Lovesexy, etc. all have multiple songs I would rate over anything on Dirty Mind. [Edited 6/20/13 13:22pm]

I'm on the unpopular side with this album. I think, like a couple on here, that it's very very overrated. The only songs I really care for are When U were Mine and Uptown (Prince's anthem). Anywho I'll try my best:

1. Head (if just for the keyboard solo alone!)
2. Party Up ("That war is such a fuckin' bore, party up." Simplistic perhaps, but I can't help singing it earnestly every time I hear it.)
3. Dirty Mind (probably the first Prince song that absolutely blew me away with its perfection.) 4. Sister (Okay, sure, it's about as taboo a subject as can be ... and maybe that has something to do with why I love it so much.)
5. Uptown (okay, now I'm doubting my choices because how could this song not be higher up in the ranking? "White, black, Puerto Rican, everybody just a-freakin', good times were rollin'..." - such a great song about a funky utopia that I just experienced at the gay pride parade today.)
6. When You Were Mine (this would rank so much higher if it weren't played so often, and lately for some reason I prefer Cindy Lauper's version, although Prince's vocals on here are delicious.)
7. Gotta Broken Heart Again (was not a huge fan of this until he played it on the ONA Live in Vegas DVD and I fell head over heels.)
8. Do it All Night (easily my least favorite, but still a really great song).
With the exception of the first two albums, I have a very hard time ranking songs on his albums through at least Lovesexy. It just depends on my mood, and there is hardly a song on any of those albums that hasn't spoken to my heart at some point or another in my life. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Hey, let's not forget this LP came right after For You & Prince and compared to those it was: This was THE most important influential album Prince EVER did! (I'm not saying it's the best album he did) . It turned him from just another soul/disco artist into someone who was totally unique. It fit right within the new wave/punk mood of the time, it made Prince into the artist he became. It's his coming of age album. There's no way you can "overrate" Dirty Mind.
