Menstrual Cycle / Octopus Heart question Hey all. I asked about this in the other thread but had no response - perhaps others are having the same problem... I'm really digging the new tracks but unfortunately I can't seem to be able to play them on my iPod. They play on iTunes just fine and they happily load onto my iPod but they don't play; they just skip immediately to the next song. Anyone know how to fix this? I've had no trouble with any of the other 3rdEyeGirl tracks I've purchased, just these Soundcloud freebies...

something is up with those files. i tried converting them to mp3 so i could play them in my car from usb. but they always give an error right at the end of converting it says they skip or something. which is an error i've never had before with anything. they still play just fine on the computer though, so i guess it's ok.

You should be able to convert them to mp3 files in iTunes. I did and mine play fine.

Thanks for the responses, nice to know I'm not the only one having trouble with these files. Just to clarify, I do convert them to play in iTunes, as I do with all of my files, it's when they're on my iPod that they fail to play. I've only ever had this trouble when files have been 'Read Only' (which these were) and I've always been able to fix this by just unticking that box. No luck here though Strange files indeed...

That is strange. Did you check your preferences to verify that you are converting them to mp3 and not some other format that the iPod can't handle? (Just wondering) **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

PUHLEASE!!!!!1!!!
A modern music player that is unable to play WAVs? (WAV is the quintessential sound file format)
I'd file a bug with the manufacturer.
Also: If it doesn't play flac it is not a music player. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Yeah, I had that problem with my old iRiver MP3 player. I noticed in WinAmp that the WAV file info was 24-bit PCM 2 channels 44100Hz, so I converted it to 16-bit PCM 2 channels 44100Hz with the WinAmp Nullsoft Diskwriter and it was fine.

I'm not quite sure how you 'check your preferences' (I'm really not technically savvy I'm afraid so please bear with). I simply drop the tracks into iTunes and it converted them automatically. As I say, they play fine on iTunes, it's just my damn iPod which, I should add, is brand new. So I can't imagine there should be a problem lying in its tech.

Yep, done the same thing. Downloaded them on the day and again the other day (just in case). Same thing unfortunately...

Yeah, I wasn't able to burn either of them using Burrrn. I forget exactly what I did to fix the issue, but I think I basically converted the .wav files to other .wav files and then I could burn both of them. So I believe that I essentially converted them from 24-bit to 16-bit or some shit like that. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Delete the songs off of your Ipod and reload them back on. Perhaps put them in a playlist as well. I use a Mac but as long as it plays in Itunes it will play on your Ipod or Iphone. You don't need to convert it any further. I had this same problem with 2 songs for the "Ultimate" set and just deleted the tracks and reloaded them. Played fine after that. I have both of those tracks you mentioned and they play fine on my Iphone. Big Chick

Yeah, normally when I've had this problem before I've done the same thing; deleted them then reloaded them. This time, however, no luck. And I've done that 3 times... Thanks again for all your help guys, it seems I'm not going to fix this any time soon
