the song "Purple Rain" Dang y'all
being old skool im often to be found on the side of the fence waxing lyrical about 'electric intercourse" or 'xpectation' or "scarlet pussy"
you know the kind of inverse snobbery us old skool spout...
but shit...sticking on the cut "purple rain" from the album just reminds me of the power and utter beauty of this goliath of a song.
(and yes im the sort who wishes "please dont play fucking purple rain" when i see him live..'paly the fucking undertaker")
but just wow....purple rain..now wheres my lighter?

I loved it back in the day and I still love it now. I don't care if it's not cool to like it!

This song prevented me from taking my own life when I was 12 years old. Hearing it always takes me back to that moment, when God touched my heart and mind and said, "Don't do this. You are needed, and you are loved." ā€ˇhttps://www.youtube.com/@PurpleKnightsPodcast

this song opened up the door to all kinds of different cultures to a sheltered white boy living in suburban Orange County during the eighties. i didn't know emotion could sound like that, and when i heard those gospel-tinged choruses for the first time, i was changed forever. When ever I watch the movie, I'm always up beat throughout it, but when this comes up, I always mellow out and getinto my feelings. IDK why. And to top it off, my ABSOULTE FAVORITE part of that scene is that unspoken apology between him and Wendy. That little kiss. The first time saw it, I bawled but now, some 50 times I've seen it later, I just cry a little. That some says alot. You forget it has been overplayed, overexposed to death. You behace as if it was 1985 or so. It's 2013 and mr I got too many hits can't do too many shows without that one song. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
