Prince"Screwdriver" appreciation

I can't understand why so many Prince fans on here are very down
on this track..It's one of Prince's better songs over
the past 15 yrs..The song rocks out..Plus the melody sticks inside
your head..this song is a solid Prince song

I like it myself. Not every song needs to have deep, soul searching lyrics to be good. It's a fun rock song.

I love it. I love every version of it. It's one of my all-time favorites, in every version.

I'm with u on this. This song is one of his best singles in the last 5 years. I find myself singing it on a regular basis.

I was excited by it and was pumped to buy it, and then to collect the remix and various live versions that are out there. Finally, a studio track that seems to capture the energy of his live performances to some degree, without the falloff you can kind of sense when listening to "Fury" live on SNL and then cueing up the album version.

.

Unfortunately, what HAS carried over from other singles over the past decade is the total lack of momentum. I get that he's touring small venues, but what had the largest number of people excited was the prospect of new music, and the 3rdeyegirl.com site has been abandoned, not even up-to-date with current dates on the homepage.

.

As for the song itself, I thought it sounded more like the inspired Prince of the 1994-95 era than anything else in recent memory.

.

Here's hoping some of the more public momentum from January is recaptured this weekend during/after the Billboard performance/appearance with more news and new music.

Loved the original "lyric version", and loved the performance on Jimmy Fallon, where if you watch closely at the end, he does this CLASSIC smooth sliding half twirl back, then freezes in a CLASSIC Prince pose... with perfect lighting.

He and 3rdeyegirl rocked that ish hard.

I'm a fan of 29 years and I'm loving the new stuff more than anything since the Gold Experience.

Horses for courses as they say.

There is fire in his belly on the new rock tracks (unlike the RnB ones) which has been missing for a while.

Love Screwdriver.
