I never heard another version... yeah the Sheila Prince penned song..but on the Neon boot its Prince is singing it in rehearsal for the big June 7th 1984 birthday show. Purple Rain is in the can, WDC is released and a smash on the radio and he is going to tear shit up later that night at the actual show. He even turnsa the tune into the song Spanish Harlem where eh probably got the melody from.
