What is the key to Princes longevity?

Dude has been around 30+ years and still has a pretty good following. What is the key in your opinion to his longevity? I can't give an answer to my question. I can only say why I keep paying attention to him and the reason I do is hope. I keep hoping he'll release something new that is so good that I keep jonesing for it all the time. Kinda like a good - oh wait, this is a family show lol

For better or worse, keeping everyone at an arm's length, maintaining his "mystique". and touring.

It's straight up his unmatched talent, his constant release of new music, and always being on tour so he is never forgotten. Also let's not forget his Mystery, Genius and Controversial personality. I also believe he has a certain Aura around him to attract people to him.

Aside from the usual nip-and-tuck, botox, and hair dyes, I would assume it may have something to do with methamphetimines or even crack cocaine.

But I think this is going to hurt Prince financially in the long run.

I mean, since he's Prince, I'm assuming his entire enterage

expects him to treat when they have drug parties.

That shit gets expensive.

true, his 80s output has propelled him far, but there are many popular 80s artists that haven't continued their careers with the same artistic integrity/variety (if at all). there is definitely something else going on! true talent maybe? even at a diminished power his talent is better than most (all?) modern artists.

He works hard and plays hard. It also helps that he has a lot of talent.

I guess it says a lot when you look at ALL the people he has worked with over the years, band members etc and he's the only one that is still revelant I suppose. Could any of his former bandmates command even a $99.00 ticket price on a tour. Probably not. None of his former band members ever get anything close to the contracts from music compaqnys like he has (eventhough he's screwed just about all of them up). Sorry but it's not the Revolution or the NPG or anyone else, it's Prince. No disrepect to any of the people he has worked with but it's Prince. He's a bad dude! Guess thats why he still doing it big.

I think reason of his longevity is the fact that he never completely satisfies me. I mean... I can (and often do) listen to his music for hours, there are hundreds of songs to choose in my ipod, and still when it's ended I don't feel I'm done with it. Which is probably why I listen to him again the next day... I don't know exactly why, but it always leaves me to crave for more. Which is why I'm still hoping for a new album, even if I have enough of his music to keep me busy for years lol

In a few words, he's an addiction. razz That's why he lasts.

believe it or not. there is sufficient people out there in the general public, who still appreciate true talent, something Prince has by the ton - whether it be song writer, musician or performer - as he combines all 3 with a passion to keep going and charisma like no other on stage, probably are the key

Although, if the "Time" could have kept their name. They could have theoretically charge 100 for good seats at concerts.

Yep. But then again, I would have paid that price to see O7.
